Jerry Jones Praises Cowboys After Win Over Rams: “I Can’t Say Enough About How Well We Played Today”

The Cowboys dominated all three phases en route to a Week 8 victory against the Rams, and Dallas' owner had words of praise for his team.

The Dallas Cowboys had an impressive showing against the Los Angeles Rams in their Week 8 matchup. The offense looked more explosive than ever, and the team played complementary as the defense scored a touchdown and the special teams blocked a punt for a safety.

After the dominant win, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had nothing but positives to say about his team, as well as some comments on injured players.

The Cowboys’ offense was very productive in the first half and wasted no time getting the ball rolling as Dak Prescott found tight end Jake Ferguson on an 18-yard touchdown pass on their first drive. They held a 33-9 lead at halftime.

“I can’t say enough about how well we played today … I’ll tell you what, when they initially took that ball down like that and made the score, it reminded me of our game earlier in the year, and then we came back and just really made the plays all over,” Jones said.

“We played a good game today, and we gotta do it again here next week. I’ve been watching on the side up there — the Washington-Philly game — and both those clubs are ahead of us … We got our work cut out for us.”

CeeDee Lamb had a phenomenal game as he brought in 12 receptions for 158 yards, averaging 13.2 yards per reception. Prescott seemed to have no problem consistently finding Lamb to move the chains.

“I don’t know when we’ve had that dominant role play by a receiver,” Jones said. “I can’t remember because he was in on everything we were trying to do on every series. We’ve all seen him play at that level, but I don’t think he’s had as many opportunities as he had out there today.”

Jones also praised Prescott, saying this was one of his best showings.

“Some of those throws he made were just so accurate and timely, and to me, this is one of Dak’s best games. Period,” Jones said. “It was a great game to have for our fans here at home.”

    Offensive Line Injuries

Tyron Smith has been consistently struggling with injuries this season. The left tackle is a key component of the Cowboys offensive line, and Jones said the smart move was to keep him out of Sunday’s matchup.

“Actually, we all thought Tyron was going to go until the last second,” Jones said. “We didn’t want him to get another stinger out there on top of what he had. He’ll work through it as he always has all of his career.”

Jones said he is unsure of the status of left tackle Chuma Edoga, who has played in Smith’s absence this season. Edoga suffered an injury during the game after a player fell on his right leg during a pass block on a big play to Lamb. He was carted off the field to the locker room.

“I’m not for sure of Player 71’s injury. So, I’m not sure what kind of shape they’re gonna be in here on numbers,” Jones said.

Fifth-round rookie Asim Richards, who has seen 20 regular-season snaps entering the week, came in to replace Edoga after the injury.
