The Tennessee Titans currently sit at 2-4 and will likely be sellers at this season’s NFL trade deadline. With Ryan Tannehill ruled out of the Week 8 matchup against the Falcons and rookie Will Levis stepping in, things don’t look too promising for the team.
Tennessee already made a big trade last week as they sent two-time Pro Bowl safety Kevin Byard to the Eagles for two late-round picks and safety Terrell Edmunds.
Tannehill has been inefficient, as he’s completed 62% of his passes this season for 1,128 yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions. How will the team proceed over the next few days ahead of the Oct. 31 trade deadline?
Tennessee Titans Trade Deadline Moves
Trade Derrick Henry
The longtime running back has gotten off to a strong start this season with 425 yards on 98 carries, averaging 4.3 yards per carry.
According to NFL Media, the Titans have informed Derrick Henry that they are not shopping him, although they have received at least one offer and will continue to listen to others. The team is looking for more than a mid-round pick.
MORE: Derrick Henry Trade Rumors
Per NFL Media, Henry has a $10.5 million base salary in 2023, and there is $5.83 million remaining. According to The Athletic, the team won’t trade away Henry unless they receive an “exceptional” offer.
This is a smart move by the Titans, who are looking to rebuild for the future. The Baltimore Ravens have been tied to Henry as one of the teams that is most interested and could be a good fit for the running back. Rumor also has it that the Dallas Cowboys could be interested in Henry.
Time will tell if either team will be willing to offer what Tennessee is looking for to trade away the star RB.
Trade DeAndre Hopkins
Another big name in the swirl of trade rumors is DeAndre Hopkins. Should the Titans lose to the Falcons in Week 8, they may be in full fire-sale mode and consider trading away Hopkins for draft capital.
So far this season, Hopkins has brought in 27 receptions for 376 yards, averaging 13.9 yards per reception.
Hopkins is 31 and in his 11th season. There’s no reason to keep him around for a rebuild. Getting rid of his contract while getting some draft capital would be beneficial in kickstarting Tennessee’s rebuild.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a name at the forefront of the Hopkins trade rumors. He signed a two-year, $26 million deal with the Titans this offseason, and his deal includes an out in 2024 that would leave Pittsburgh with just over $7 million in dead cap.
Other teams like the Ravens, Chiefs, Bills, or Cowboys could also benefit from adding Hopkins to bolster their offenses going into the postseason.
Consider Moving Other Players
Again, if the Titans take another loss this week, there likely won’t be many players off limits. Daniel Brunskill, Dillon Radunz, Denico Autry, Kristian Fulton, Sean Murphy-Bunting, Teair Tart, and Azeez Al-Shaair are all names that Tennessee could look to trade away.
For a team like the New York Jets, offensive linemen are needed, and a Brunskill trade could be possible. With Autry in a contract year, teams are monitoring him. A team like the Saints could be a good match for Autry as they need pass-rush help.
