Fantasy Injury Update: Tyler Lockett, Joshua Palmer, and Curtis Samuel Impacting Week 8 Ranking

Here is a look at the injury statuses of Curtis Samuel, Tyler Lockett, and Joshua Palmer as we near Sunday of Week 8 in the NFL season.

Week 8 in the fantasy football season kicked off on Thursday night as the Buffalo Bills defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As we near this weekend’s games, there are a few players who are currently dealing with some injury issues that have their status in question for their respective games.

Here’s a closer look at the latest injury updates for Tyler Lockett, Curtis Samuel, and Joshua Palmer and how these injuries could affect their fantasy outlooks.

    Fantasy Injury Updates Week 8

    Tyler Lockett, WR, Seattle Seahawks

Fantasy managers with Lockett on their team got some good news as he practiced Friday. While it doesn’t guarantee that he will play this weekend, it definitely does increase the likelihood that he will be active.

Lockett has been targeted at least four times in every game. His best game of the year was in Week 2, when he had eight catches for 59 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime. Those two touchdowns are the only ones he has scored this year.

The Seahawks are going up against the Cleveland Browns, who have the best pass defense in the league. This is a tough matchup when healthy, but Lockett is leading the team in catches with 27. Even if Lockett is able to go, this isn’t a great matchup for the former K-State wide receiver.

    Curtis Samuel, WR, Washington Commanders

Like Lockett, Samuel appears to be on the right path to being able to play. He was a limited participant Thursday and missed only one practice this week. The Commanders have a big home game this week against the division-leading Philadelphia Eagles.

In the game against the New York Giants two weeks ago, Samuel had four catches for 25 yards on eight targets. He has had at least four targets in all but one game this year, and he had a big outing in the first matchup with the Eagles.

In that game, he had seven catches for 51 yards while also having one rushing touchdown. Howell has shown a lot of trust in him throughout the season, and he is a viable part of the Commanders offense.

Joshua Palmer, WR, Los Angeles Chargers

Palmer is coming off a career game with five catches for 133 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs. One of those catches went for 60 yards, and he was a big player for the Chargers. He accounted for over half the receiving yards of all the receivers and has been the guy to step in for Mike Williams.

Palmer is the latest Chargers receiver to deal with an injury, and his status for this weekend is questionable. He was limited in practice Friday, doing much of his work on the side.

Palmer has received at least seven targets in the last four games since Williams’ injury, showing he is the unquestioned No. 2 receiver in Los Angeles. However, if he is unable to go, guys like Quentin Johnston, Derius Davis, and Simi Fehoko could see their targets increase on Sunday.
