One of the best, latest editions of an NFL success story has to be San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy from Mr. Irrelevant and the final pick of the draft to the starting QB on a very good team. The leap from after-thought draft pick to being in the NFL MVP conversation in just his second season is truly miraculous, but it’s where Purdy finds himself.
With all the new praise and fame that comes with being a budding NFL star quarterback, surely Purdy has drastically changed his way of life to adjust, right?
Wrong. In fact, it looks as if nothing for Purdy has changed at all since coming onto the scene. That includes his living situation as well.
From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!
Does Brock Purdy Still Have a Roommate?
With the spotlight comes interview requests. And while Purdy is navigating success on the football field, the general public doesn’t know too much about the quarterback out of Iowa State University.
So when Purdy sat down with The TODAY Show and told the world he still lives with a roommate, it caught a few people by surprise.
“So I still have a roommate, one of the offensive linemen here. So he and I are still splitting rent.”

Purdy went on to add that his vehicle of choice hasn’t changed either. “I still drive, you know, my Toyota Sequoia, and other than that, it’s pretty simple.”
While Purdy is by no means broke with an $870,000 salary for the season, he’s certainly not rich yet, either. Purdy is living like a man who understands how to save his money and knows that the NFL is just a finite amount of time in a player’s life. And while the big payday may come soon, it’s not here yet.
Purdy’s Team-Friendly Salary and Contract
After being the last pick in his draft class, Purdy signed a four-year, $3,737,008 contract with the team, including a $77,008 signing bonus (guaranteed) and an average annual salary of $934,252. For this season, Purdy’s cap hit is a team-friendly $870,000, making him the 63rd-highest-paid quarterback in the entire NFL.
For comparison purposes, the highest-paid QB in the NFL currently is Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow, who signed a five-year, $275 million contract extension in September that will average $55 million per season. The second highest-paid QB right now is Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert, who is being paid $52.5 million annually.
Any way you look at it, Purdy is a bargain for San Francisco right now, and his contract cannot contractually be looked at for another two seasons, ensuring the 49ers will continue to get quality play for a bargain rate.
Brock Purdy Under the Bright Lights
The next test Purdy will look to ace will be tonight on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings. While the Vikings are struggling, they do have the talent to sneak up on teams.
Purdy is fresh off the first NFL regular-season loss of his career last week against the Cleveland Browns and will look to bounce back and put that behind him versus a desperate Vikings team.
The 49ers are heavy favorites in this one, but last week showed that Purdy and the team can be beaten if they aren’t careful.
