Miami Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert Named PFN Offensive Player of the Week

Raheem Mostert becomes the first two-time PFN Offensive Player of the Week of 2023 after a three-touchdown game against the Carolina Panthers.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert is on a pace never before seen in franchise history. And after yet another multi-score game, he’s Pro Football Network’s Offensive Player of Week 6.

In the Dolphins’ 42-21 victory over the Carolina Panthers, Mostert added three more touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving) to his remarkable total, giving him a career-high 11 with two-thirds of the season still to go.

Mostert, who is just seven touchdowns shy of the Dolphins’ record (18, Mark Clayton, 1984), has an outside chance of setting the NFL record for rushing and receiving TDs in a season (31, LaDainian Tomlinson, 2006).

Mostert also led his team with 115 yards on 17 carries, giving the Dolphins their fourth-straight 100-yard rusher.

Mostert’s league-leading nine rushing touchdowns (with 11 games remaining) are just seven off the franchise record set by Ricky Williams.

Mostert’s three touchdowns gave him the edge among PFN voters over his own teammate Tyreek Hill (who went 6-163-1 in the Carolina game), Detroit’s Jared Goff and New Orleans’ Derek Carr (who each threw for 323 yards in Week 6), and Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams, who led all NFL players in Week 6 with 158 yards on 20 carries.

Williams and Mostert were the only 100-yard rushers in Week 6.

Mostert, on the season, leads the NFL in touchdowns and ranks seventh league-wide in rushing yards (429).

“First and foremost, I got to contribute to the guys up front,” Mostert said after the game. “They make it a little bit easier and also receivers and pretty much everybody in the offense to help out with that cause. But I’m just trying to do something remarkable for myself, and I’m just trying to set the standard not only for myself but a lot of people who come in as an undrafted guy. Year nine now, so it’s truly a blessing and a dream.”

Added Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel: “It’s really cool to watch. The guy is hungry for every opportunity, and I think you see his will in the way he runs the ball. Down around the goal line, a lot of times, the perfect play doesn’t exist, and it’s a battle of wills, and he’s not a guy that a lot of people want to tackle. I’m happy for him, as always. He was a big player for us today and will continue to be such moving forward.”

Mostert is the first two-time winner of PFN’s Offensive Player of the Week award this year, as he also took home the honor in Week 3. Dolphins players have now won the award in three of the first six weeks of the season — Tua Tagovailoa was the Week 1 winner.
