DK Metcalf Injury Update: What We Know About the Seahawks WR

D.K. Metcalf is the Seattle Seahawks leading wide receiver. If Metcalf is forced to miss significant time, it could be a huge loss for the Seahawks.

DK Metcalf is one of the most physically imposing players in the NFL. However, the Seattle Seahawks top wide receiver left a crucial matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals with a hip injury. What do we know about the injury, and what impact could this have on the Seahawks’ offense from a fantasy perspective?

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

    DK Metcalf Injury Update

Metcalf was seen jogging into the locker room in Cincinnati, following doctor Ed Khlafayan. The injury seemed to occur on a downfield passing attempt along the sideline, just outside of the end zone.

Although Metcalf was questionable to return, he was seen back in the game as the fourth quarter commenced. Geno Smith threw an interception in his direction shortly after his return on a 2nd-and-9.

Metcalf has been the top target in Seattle’s offense in targets and receptions in every season since 2021. Although Tyler Lockett may be the most underrated WR in the NFL, Metcalf’s unbelievable physical tools make him the alpha in the Seahawks’ passing attack, despite Lockett’s explosiveness.

    Potential Fantasy Impact

An injury to Metcalf could have a sizable fantasy ripple effect in this Seattle passing attack. If Metcalf misses any time, Lockett immediately jumps into top-15 consideration at the WR position, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba would get a small bump up in the rankings with a potentially expanded role with Metcalf out of the lineup.

This also might slide quarterback Geno Smith slightly down in the weekly rankings at the QB position if Metcalf misses any time in the coming weeks.
