On one singular running play in the third quarter of Oregon’s Week 7 contest against the Washington Huskies, the Ducks saw both Jackson and Florence go down with injuries.

According to Pac-12 beat reporter James Crepea, Jackson walked back to the sideline holding his left shoulder, while Florence — who stayed on the ground in pain for some time after the play — went into the tent holding his right arm and wrist.

The broadcast later reported that Jackson had his left shoulder wrapped and appeared primed to return to the game. Florence, however, was still in the tent being evaluated.

In such a big game, the loss of one or both of the Ducks’ starting cornerbacks could prove costly. Shortly after the two CBs left the field, Michael Penix Jr. attacked the boundary and tossed a deep touchdown pass to Rome Odunze, putting the Huskies up 29-18.

The Washington passing attack is one of the most potent in college football, and the Ducks need their top talent on the field to keep them at bay. Florence came up with a crucial interception in the first half off a miscommunication between Penix and Odunze, and his impact will be missed if he’s unable to return.

Fortunately for the Ducks, however, it does appear as though Jackson is trending toward returning. Jackson has been a riser on the 2024 NFL Draft circuit this year after transferring from Alabama, and his length on the boundary at 6’3″ is a vital asset.

Update: According to Holly Rowe, Flowers is aiming to return. But in the meantime, veteran Trikweze Bridges has replaced him opposite Jackson. Bridges helped force two incompletions on the most recent drive.
