Friday’s top-flight matchup between two conference rivals — the Oregon Ducks and the Washington Huskies — is one of the most hotly anticipated games of the college football season thus far. The winner of this matchup will be crowned the Pac-12 champions.
Oregon’s high-scoring offense is piloted by fifth-year senior quarterback Bo Nix. After three up-and-down seasons at Auburn, Nix’s game has ascended to another level. In a season-and-a-half with the Ducks, Nix has thrown for over 5,000 yards, 44 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions. He also boasts a 15-3 record as Oregon’s starting QB.

The 23-year-old signal-caller has grown up quickly since transferring to Oregon, and not just in terms of his on-field production.
Nix and his then-girlfriend, Izzy Smoke, got engaged in July of 2021. One year later, they tied the knot. The Heisman contender is a lot of things, but few were likely aware that he’s already a husband.

The romance of Nix and Smoke reads like something out of a fairy tale — or at least a high school football movie. The star quarterback and head cheerleader started their bond at Pinson Valley High School in Alabama. They took their relationship, and their starring roles on their respective extracurriculars, together to nearby Auburn University.
Smoke might be recognizable for college football fans, or at least fans of the Auburn Tigers. The Auburn cheerleader has garnered attention during game broadcasts in the past for her union with Nix and her role on the cheer squad.

While Smoke didn’t follow Nix to Oregon, she seemingly remains steadfast in support of her husband. Interestingly, her Auburn cheer profile doesn’t have a headshot for either of the last two seasons. While telecasts don’t regularly highlight cheerleaders by name, it seems more likely than not that she chose to hang up the pom-poms.
One can safely surmise that’s because her Saturdays are spent in Eugene, Oregon (or whatever road venue may be hosting the Ducks) and cheering on her husband.
Information in the public sphere about Smoke’s background and personal life isn’t exactly robust, outside of her union to Oregon’s star quarterback of course.

Should Nix progress to the NFL, as expected, and succeed at the game’s highest level, it’s likely football fans will concurrently get to know his wife a little bit better.
