Curtis Samuel Fantasy Waiver Wire: Should I Pick Up the Commanders WR This Week?

Washington Commanders WR Curtis Samuel scored against the Chicago Bears on Thursday, so should fantasy managers look at picking him up from the waiver wire?

The Washington Commanders played their game on Thursday night, and it didn’t go well against the Chicago Bears. The Commanders lost 40-20 as DJ Moore exploded for eight catches, 230 yards, and three touchdowns.

Quarterback Sam Howell threw for 388 yards and distributed the ball to many of his receivers. Logan Thomas led the way with nine catches for 77 yards and one touchdown, while Curtis Samuel had six catches for 65 yards and one touchdown.

Samuel has put together consecutive solid weeks, so is it about time for fantasy football managers to consider him on the waiver wire?

Should Curtis Samuel Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 6?

In the last two weeks, Samuel has had seven catches and six catches, respectively, combining for 116 yards in those two games.

Getting that first touchdown of the season was a big thing for fantasy managers to look at, but is it still too early to go get Samuel on the waiver wire?

With Howell at quarterback, he has shown that he is looking to spread the ball around to all of his wide receivers. In the game against the Bears, 11 players had at least one catch, while eight players had at least two. Being able to spread the ball around like that makes it tough for opposing defenses to figure out who to cover.

It also keeps all players engaged because they always have a chance to get the ball. However, that much balance and sharing of the ball is not great for fantasy, as it is hard to count on guys every week.

These past two weeks have been good for Samuel, but in the first three weeks, he had only 10 catches for 127 yards.

With that being said, it is still too early to go out and sign Samuel on the waiver wire. As good as he has been the past two weeks, he could easily have another three-game stretch where he doesn’t see the ball often.

Next week, the Commanders play at the Atlanta Falcons, who have one of the best pass defenses in the league. They entered Week 5 as the fifth-best pass defense (176.3 yards). The game is at Atlanta, where the Falcons are 3-0 on the season. They have allowed only 17.6 points at home, so the Commanders could be in for a tough day.
