Finding a solid TE is hard every season, but it seems even more challenging this year. With little consistency in the TE ranks, fantasy managers have to run to the waiver wire to grab any TE with a spark.
Two guys who have shown a spark this year play on Thursday night; should you start Cole Kmet or Logan Thomas this week in fantasy football?

Cole Kmet’s Fantasy Outlook This Week
Chicago’s Kmet has been all over the map this year. He started Week 1 as the TE8, and then, after two weeks in the 20s, he skyrocketed to the TE1 in Week 4. Last week, he had 85 yards receiving and two TDs on the back of Justin Fields monster day.
Replicating this performance will be nearly impossible this week, and Kmet comes in as the TE13 in PFN’s Consensus Rankings.
Chicago was without Chase Claypool last week and will be again in Week 5, and Kmet’s target share went up to 25% with Claypool gone.
I expect Kmet to continue to be Fields’ second read after DJ Moore, but Washington is great against TEs; they have allowed the third-fewest receiving yards and the lowest amount of fantasy points per game for TEs this season.
Logan Thomas’ Fantasy Outlook This Week
Thomas returned to the lineup after a concussion and finished as the TE22 in Week 4. This week, Thomas is a sneaky option against a Bears defense that is horrible at defending the pass.

Last week, he only had an 8% target share, so you would love to see that increase, but he was on the field for 79% of snaps. Thomas is the TE16 in PFN’s Consensus Rankings for Week 5.
Which of the TEs Should You Start?
Chances are you didn’t draft either of these TEs and are looking at them as streaming options. If you are streaming a TE, all you are hoping for is 40 or so yards and a TD, and anything over that is a bonus.
The Commanders have shut down TEs so far this year, not allowing anything better than a TE21 finish. I am starting Thomas.
