The Buffalo Bills‘ defense is doing an excellent job of slowing down the Miami Dolphins‘ terrifying offense on Sunday, but it may have come at a cost. Star cornerback Tre’Davious White went down with a serious-looking injury in Week 4. What happened to White, and what is his current health status?
From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!
Update: An MRI confirmed that Tre’Davious White has torn his ACL.
Tre’Davious White Injury Update
White appeared to suffer a non-contact leg/ankle injury in the third quarter of today’s game. He was writhing on the field and threw his helmet in anger, a potential sign he knew the injury was serious.
Bills players signaled for the club’s medical staff to assist White, and the entire roster gathered around White as he was down.

The scene was devastating. White was in tears and eventually left the field with a towel over his head.
Buffalo has since announced White is being evaluated for an ankle injury. The CBS broadcast indicated White is getting an MRI for a potential Achilles injury.
After the game, Bills head coach Sean McDermott confirmed White was being evaluated for an Achilles issue and noted that White has had to return from injury before.
“He’s been through a lot, and sometimes you wonder why things like that happen twice, McDermott said. “You watch how hard he’s worked to get back.”
Unfortunately, White is believed to have torn his Achilles, as ESPN reported after the game. He’ll have an MRI on Monday to confirm the initial diagnosis. White would miss the remainder of the 2023 campaign and might not be ready for the start of the 2024 season.
Not a surprise but no less devastating: Bills’ CB Tre’Davious White is believed to have torn his Achilles, per league sources. He will undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm.

White, 28, has already dealt with one career-altering injury in the NFL. After tearing his ACL in November 2021, White missed the rest of the season and the first seven games of the 2022 campaign.
He eventually returned on Thanksgiving Day in 2022, one year to the day after initially going down.
White’s injury will be a long-term concern, but the Bills also have an immediate cornerback problem. Christian Benford suffered a shoulder injury earlier in today’s game and was initially listed as questionable, but he has returned and is in the lineup alongside Dane Jackson.
Benford and Jackson will profile as Buffalo’s starting outside corners if White is sidelined for a significant period. 2022 first-round pick Kaiir Elam, a healthy scratch over the first month of the season, would likely be active moving forward.
