Who Will Be Announcing the Packers and Lions Broadcast Tonight?
Al Michaels will be doing play-by-play, with Kirk Herbstreit providing analysis and Kaylee Hartung reporting from the sidelines.
Michaels has broadcast several games at Lambeau Field for Monday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, and Thursday Night Football. He was on the call for Antonio Freeman’s crazy catch to end a game against the Minnesota Vikings in 2000. Michaels said in 2014, “Probably the craziest ending I’ve seen.”
Charissa Thompson hosts the pregame show that features former NFL players Richard Sherman, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Andrew Whitworth, and Tony Gonzalez.
Amazon Prime is your only option to watch the game, except if you live in Detroit or Green Bay, where the game will be available on a local broadcast network.
Al Michaels’ Broadcasting Career Has Been a Historic One
When it comes to iconic moments in sports, it wasn’t just football that Michaels was there for. Some of the biggest sports moments in history were narrated by Michaels, including the “Miracle on Ice,” where an unheralded group of college ice hockey players from the United States won the gold medal at the 1980 Olympic Winter Games.
Throughout his career, Michaels would be the voice of many MLB World Series games as well as Super Bowls, and countless Sunday night and Monday night football games over the years.

Michaels is a five-time Sports Emmy Award winner, three-time NSMA National Sportscaster of The Year, and a Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism recipient.
There isn’t much that Michaels hasn’t seen or done throughout his career, and as Amazon Prime begins Year 2 of their NFL coverage, it’s safe to say they may not have a more distinguished or qualified man in the booth to lead the way.
A First in This Longtime Rivalry
This is the first time the Packers have hosted the Lions on a Thursday after playing in Detroit on Thanksgiving 21 times. The second game between the two teams this season will be played on Thanksgiving.
The last time these two teams played on a Thursday night, in 2015, Aaron Rodgers stunned the Lions with a Hail Mary.
Detroit has won three games in a row against Green Bay and is 7-4 in the last 11 games against the Packers. It’s a dramatic turnaround after the Lions only won seven games in the series between the 2000 and 2016 seasons.
With both teams entering 2-1, the winner of tonight’s game will be in sole possession of first place in the NFC North after four weeks. The Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears are 0-3 heading into Week 4, so the division is shaping up to be a two-team race.
Latest Packers vs. Lions Injury Report
Both teams enter the game with a number of injuries to starters. Each team has already ruled out offensive linemen, with others listed as questionable.
Lions running back David Montgomery is listed as questionable with a thigh injury, but he’s expected to play tonight.
The Packers are hopeful that wide receiver Christian Watson will make his season debut after missing the first three games with a hamstring injury. Running back Aaron Jones could also return after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury. Both players would provide a much-needed boost to quarterback Jordan Love and the Packers offense.
