The 2023 season was about whether the decision to draft QB Jordan Love 26th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft would pay off. After trading long-time franchise cornerstone Aaron Rodgers in the offseason, it was now or never, and the returns have been promising so far.

Despite missing WR Christian Watson and having a banged-up Romeo Doubs in Week 1, Love completed 15 of 27 passes for 245 yards and three touchdowns in his first NFL start. He matched that by completing 14 of 25 passes against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2 for 151 yards and three more touchdowns.
The script flipped in Week 3 as the Packers struggled to find momentum through the first three quarters against the Saints. Love helped Green Bay climb out of a 15-point hole in the fourth quarter, scoring two touchdowns, one through the air and one on the ground, to lead the Packers to an 18-17 victory.
Will Love continue to find room in the passing game against the Lions tonight? Five of Love’s seven touchdown passes have come in the red zone this season. The Lions have allowed four red-zone passing touchdowns in 2023, tied for the fifth-most.
In the passing game, the third-year QB should also get a boost from his RBs, Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon. Packers RBs have averaged 15.4 yards after the catch in 2023, the best in the NFL.
Detroit has allowed 8.5 yards after the catch per reception to RBs this season, the fifth-worst in the league. Will Love and the Packers be able to go drive for drive with the Lions in a possible shootout on Thursday Night Football? Given the matchups for the Packers’ offense, the chance is there.
