The New England Patriots have a 14-game winning streak over the New York Jets that dates back to 2015. In 2000, Bill Belichick stepped down as the Jets head coach right before his introductory news conference and went on to take the New England head job instead.
How Did the New York Jets Beat the New England Patriots in 2015?
The last time the Jets won a game against the Patriots was on Dec. 27, 2015. New England entered the Week 16 matchup with a 12-2 record, and the Jets were 9-5 and on a four-game winning streak. The defending Super Bowl champion Patriots had already clinched the AFC East while New York was making a playoff push.
The Jets had a 17-3 lead in the third quarter behind Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brandon Marshall, who connected on two touchdown passes. The Patriots, however, scored the next 10 points and only trailed by four entering the fourth.
Down seven, New England got the ball with 6:26 left in the game, and then Tom Brady led an 11-play, 66-yard drive to tie the game. Running back James White scored on a nine-yard touchdown pass to tie the game with a little over a minute left.
The Patriots won the coin toss to start overtime but elected to kick off instead of receiving the ball. New England wanted to kick in a specific direction but incorrectly answered the official after winning the toss.
Fitzpatrick led the Jets down the field on a five-play, 80-yard drive that ended with Eric Decker catching the game-winning touchdown.
Marshall finished the game with eight catches for 115 yards, and Fitzpatrick passed for 296 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Brady threw one touchdown and one interception for New England.
How Did the 2015 Season End For Both Teams?
The Patriots lost to Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game. Yet, New England bounced back in 2016 and went on to win another Super Bowl title.

The Jets failed to make the playoffs after losing to former head coach Rex Ryan’s Buffalo Bills in Week 17. New York has not had a winning season since 2015. That season’s Week 16 win against the Patriots was one of the top highlights for the franchise in the last nine seasons.
How Historic Is the Patriots’ Winning Streak?
The 14 straight wins against the Jets are tied for the seventh longest in NFL history. A win over New York would push New England into a four-way tie for third longest. Another active streak is the Kansas City Chiefs winning the last 15 games against the Denver Broncos.
The longest streak in Patriots history is a 15-game win streak against the Bills from 2003 to 2010.
The Patriots have swept the season series against the Jets seven straight times. This is tied for third all-time in NFL history for consecutive series sweeps.
