Game Prediction
It’s difficult to imagine a better start to the season than Jordan Love has had through the first two weeks of the season. Amid the pressure of replacing a legend in Aaron Rodgers, Love leads the NFL in passer rating (118.2) and his six touchdown passes are tied for the most in the league. He has yet to throw an interception in 52 attempts and has been sacked just twice.

The offense still isn’t great for Green Bay (25th in yards per game, 276.5), but it’s difficult to put the blame for that on Love.
Meanwhile, while he has his new team off to a 2-0 start, the reviews on Derek Carr so far have to be considered mixed. Yes, the Saints are undefeated, but Carr ranks just 22nd in passer rating (80.2) and has more INTs (two) than TD throws (one). In addition, he has been sacked four times in each of the first two games.
Adding to the Saints’ issues in this matchup is the running back situation. Alvin Kamara remains out, serving the final game of his three-game suspension, and the starter for the first two games, Jamaal Williams, is out with a hamstring injury. Rookie Kendre Miller, who has been out the first two games, is off the injury report and should probably receive the bulk of the carries for New Orleans.
Green Bay, on the other hand, is close to getting healthier on the offensive end. Running back Aaron Jones (hamstring) missed last week’s game but is questionable for Sunday. And wide receiver Christian Watson, who started 11 games and had seven touchdown catches as a rookie last season, appears ready to make his 2023 debut, after missing the first two games with a hamstring issue of his own.
New Orleans appears to have the edge when breaking down the defenses. The Saints are top 5 in the NFL in both yards per game allowed (262.0, fifth) and points allowed (16, fourth). Green Bay is near the bottom in yards allowed (378.5, 27th) and is middle of the pack in points allowed (22.5, 14th).
After two wins by a combined four points, this figures to be the Saints’ most difficult matchup of the early season. While the defense could certainly carry them to a win over a still inexperienced QB in Love, the feeling here is that being at home will be enough for the Packers to pull out a close victory.
The under is also a possibility here, but for me, I’m going to back the home team in this one.
