The Dallas Cowboys continue to prepare for their Week 3 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. With the health of the offensive line being one of the biggest struggles for the team thus far this season, could Sunday’s game against the Cardinals be the first time the starting unit plays together?
UPDATE: Trevon Diggs was seen coming off of the practice field on crutches.
Diggs will get an MRI on his knee after getting hurt in practice, according to reports.
There is no official word on what the injury is yet.
Dallas Cowboys Practice Report
The official injury report from the team will come out later on Thursday, but head coach Mike McCarthy stated that things would be the same as they were yesterday regarding the workload for the players dealing with injuries.
Here’s a quick rundown for those who missed Wednesday’s injury report:
- Jayron Kearse (illness) and Zack Martin (ankle) were the only two players who did not participate.
- Brandin Cooks (knee), Chuma Edoga (elbow), and Tyler Smith (hamstring) were all limited.
- Donovan Wilson was a full participant.
A small portion of the beginning of practice was open to the media for observations.
Zack Martin and Jayron Kearse
On Wednesday, Martin worked exclusively with the team’s rehab group during practice. Today, Martin was working on the side with Britt Brown on the resistance ropes.

McCarthy said the goal was to get him more of a workload today, but Martin’s availability for Sunday’s game will ultimately depend on his workload on Saturday’s practice.
As for Kearse, he was not seen at practice, but McCarthy said he was in the building. The safety is dealing with an illness at the moment.
Donovan Wilson
Everything is looking up for Wilson, another safety looking to make a return to the field. On Thursday, he had a normal workload in practice.
This is the first week since Wilson’s calf injury — which he suffered in July at training camp — that he has a more regular practice routine.
If Wilson can start on Sunday, it would be his first game of the 2023 season. Nothing is official just yet for Wilson, but things are on an upward trend for him.
Brandin Cooks, Tyler Smith, and Chuma Edoga
Cooks, Smith, and Edoga were limited during practice yesterday.
Cooks was seen working with Brown for a while but was working his way back into practice. If Cooks can return from his knee injury that he suffered in Week 1, he would be another weapon for Prescott to utilize on Sunday.
Smith has yet to play a regular season game. But he was also seen working back into practice, which is already a step up from last week when he wasn’t dressed.
As for Edoga, he was also working back in at practice. Having him as insurance for the offensive line is, of course, the best scenario.
Nothing is official just yet for any of these players, but Thursday’s practice report should give more clarity on their trajectory.
