Latest Injury News Surrounding Amon-Ra St. Brown

St. Brown sustained an injury to the big toe on his right foot in the second half of last week’s contest against the Seahawks.

He was able to finish the game and ended the contest with a stat line of six receptions for 102 yards on seven targets, but managed to catch only one pass for five yards after sustaining the injury.

Will Amon-Ra St. Brown Play This Week?

The fact that St. Brown proved able to finish the game while dealing with the injured toe bodes well for him suiting up in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons. I would encourage fantasy managers to monitor his participation in practice throughout the week, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if St. Brown is a limited participant in practice during the early portion of the week.

If he misses practice on Wednesday or Thursday, I wouldn’t be too concerned, but if St. Brown doesn’t get on the practice field by Friday, then that would be the moment I start getting a bit worried about his status for Week 3.

Update: St. Brown is expected to suit up for the Lions in Week 3.

What Does This Mean for Amon-Ra St. Brown’s Fantasy Ranking?

St. Brown has been firmly planted in my top five at the wide receiver position the first two weeks of the 2023 season, but that’s probably going to change a bit with this injury.

St. Brown is a player who does most of his work out of the slot and relies on his ability to get in and out of cuts very quickly while accelerating out of breaks to create separation.

A significant toe injury could drastically limit his ability to consistently do this task at a high level. If St. Brown isn’t quite the focal point of the Lions’ passing attack we’ve become accustomed to over the past two seasons, then I would expect a larger role for Sam LaPorta and Josh Reynolds, with Marvin Jones Jr. and Kalif Raymond potentially getting a slight bump in short-term fantasy value as well.
