Should I Trade Josh Jacobs in Fantasy Football?

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs is off to a slow start, but is now the time for fantasy football managers to trade him?

The Las Vegas Raiders had a tough game on Sunday, losing to the Buffalo Bills, 38-10. The run game of the Raiders was especially brutal, as they rushed 15 times for 55 yards in the game. Aside from Tre Tucker’s 34-yard carry, it was a tough day.

It was especially a bad day for 2022 NFL rushing leader Josh Jacobs, who carried the ball nine times for -2 yards. On the season, he has carried the ball 28 times for 46 yards, and his stats have fantasy football managers worried. Is it just a fluke for two consecutive games, or is it time to get him off your team?

Should Fantasy Football Managers Trade Josh Jacobs?

You see that question, and it feels like maybe an overreaction. After all, Jacobs led the NFL in rushing with 1,653 rushing yards.

However, with two consecutive tough rushing games, Jacobs is not having the year people thought he would when they drafted him. While he did have five catches for 51 yards, if you want to trade him, now is the perfect time to do it.

There are still going to be plenty of fantasy managers who think Jacobs will get things turned around, as he has been a slow starter in his career.

Last year, Jacobs didn’t rush for more than 70 yards in any of the first three games. However, he followed that up with a stretch of at least 109 yards in six of the next nine games.

He has never rushed for 100 yards in a September game in his career and has been a traditionally slow starter who gets things going as the season goes on.

This feels different though, as the Raiders’ offense looks like it could struggle the entire season. Wide receiver Davante Adams left the game with a concussion, and his status for next week will be a day-by-day process.

If Adams isn’t out there, defenses are going to load the box to stop Jacobs.

This is the time to make a move when it comes to trading Jacobs, but don’t just trade him to make a move.

What Should Fantasy Managers Look To Acquire When Trading Jacobs?

Jacobs is still a quality running back, as he is RB10 in the Fantasy Consensus Rankings. He still is a low-RB1, high-RB2 type of player, so you should be getting some quality back in on the trade.

If you are looking at running backs, try to find a running back who can catch out of the backfield. While leading the league last year in rushing, he also had 53 catches last season.

In an ideal situation, you get two players who are capable of being an RB2/WR2 or Flex combination.

Jacobs still has quality value, so make sure you are getting pieces back that can make your team better.
