There was so much optimism heading into the season for the New York Jets as Aaron Rodgers was expected to take them to the promised land.
With Rodgers out due to the torn Achilles, that changes the expectations for the team and some of the players in terms of fantasy football.
One of those players is Garrett Wilson, who is considered one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. With Zach Wilson now the quarterback for the Jets, what should fantasy football managers do with Garrett Wilson?

Should I Start or Sit Garrett Wilson in Fantasy This Week?
While the fantasy expectations for the Wilson and Rodgers duo were through the roof, Wilson is still the type of receiver you should play regardless of the quarterback.
In the opener, he had five catches for 34 yards and a touchdown. If you haven’t seen the touchdown, go take a look, it was amazing.
It is true that Zach Wilson is not the quarterback that Rodgers is, but regardless of who is the quarterback for the Jets, they are going to throw the ball to Garrett Wilson … a lot.
He is capable of making the big play every single time he catches the ball, and you have to play those types of guys in fantasy.
I know there is a lot of hesitation to rely on Zach Wilson as the quarterback, but don’t make this a tougher decision than it really is. There are maybe a handful of wide receivers in the league who are as talented or better than Garrett Wilson.

You drafted him early in large part because he is a superstar talent at the wide receiver position.
And yes, while he is missing his quarterback, Wilson should be starting every single week.
Fantasy Outlook for Wilson vs. Cowboys
There wasn’t a defense that looked better last week than the Cowboys, as they flat-out dominated the Giants.
The defensive line was dominant in that game, and if there was a weakness for the Jets entering the season, it was the offensive line. That will be a huge mismatch in this game, so Zach Wilson isn’t going to be able to hang in the pocket and throw it deep.
However, he is going to look to get the ball out quickly, and there is the potential for a lot of catch opportunities on quick passes for Garrett Wilson.
The QB/WR duo did have some big games with each other last year. In consecutive games against the Patriots and Bills last season, Wilson had six catches for 115 yards and eight catches for 92 yards.
Look for Wilson to be targeted early and often, as the potential is there for a seven or eight-catch game.
