NFL Reporter Accidentally Caught on Hot Mic Talking About Bills Wide Receiver – ‘There’s no Control Over Stefon Diggs’

One unknown reporter was overheard calling out Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs following the loss to the New York Jets.

Stefon Diggs has come under intense criticism tracing back to the offseason, including if he’s got a rift with his Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Now, that criticism has stretched inside the Bills’ media room where the team holds press conferences — and one reporter was recorded on a hot mic calling out Diggs.

Hot Mic Captured Conversation Stating Stefon Diggs Can’t Be Controlled by His Team

Captured on social media on Wednesday, a snippet of this hot mic conversation was recorded.

In it, a female reporter’s voice can be overheard saying the following:

“There’s no control over Stefon Diggs. Dudes gonna do what he wants to do. He’ll look in my face and say ‘F you.’ That’s how he treats everybody.”

Laughter can then be overheard inside the room after that statement occurred.

Turns out, though, that the reporter was Bills team reporter Maddy Glab.

Bills Reporter Apologizes, Says She Respects Diggs

Glab, who has worked as a past reporter covering Stanford and the University of Tennessee, posted a note on her X account.

“I want to take ownership for what I said today,” Glab began. “I am very sorry for what I said and meant no ill will. I respect the hell out of Stefon Diggs, and he has been one of my favorite players to cover. He has great character and treats us media with lots of respect.  He takes time out of his day to talk to us, which he doesn’t have to do.

“For context, media was waiting for players to come out for press conferences when a reporter joking told me to go get Stefon Diggs. I said I don’t have control over him — Stef marches to the beat of his own drum and I love that about him. He has a playful relationship with our video department, so that’s why I said he probably wouldn’t say yes to grabbing him for an interview.

“I should not have said what I said, and I apologize for that. Stef is not in the wrong, I am.”

Diggs has had an on-again, off-again relationship with the media that goes back to his well-publicized sideline scene with Allen during the Bills’ AFC Divisional Round playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. There were also cryptic posts on social media that gave off the indicator that he wanted out.

Diggs even went after one member of the national media on Wednesday.

Diggs Calls Out ‘Undisputed’ Personality Michael Irvin

If there was one NFL analyst who received a response from Diggs, it was Michael Irvin of Fox Sports 1’s popular “Undisputed” morning show.

Irvin encouraged the Pro Bowl wide receiver to “stop” with some of his body language because it is giving fans and analysts the notion he’s unhappy with being a Bill.

“I keep seeing Diggs and the head coach (Sean McDermott) look at the quarterback and saying (points to his head to imitate Diggs and McDermott),” Irvin said. “Stop telling that man: ‘Be smart, be smart,’ because you’re telling everybody else: ‘He’s dumb, he’s dumb, he’s dumb.’ Stop doing that.”

Speaking on the “Von Cast” podcast hosted by his teammate Von Miller, Diggs denied that he ever said he wanted to leave Buffalo.

“I’m like, what are you talking about? People garnish things from a game and have their own opinions about x, y, z. Like, what are you talking about?” Diggs asked.

He then explained the meaning behind his body language on the field.

“I say this to the quarterback, I say this to the running backs, I say this to the receivers, to the o-line,” Diggs said. “When you see me pointing to my head, I say, ‘Let’s play smart. For the O-line, that’s like let’s not be holding. For the receivers, let’s stay onsides or get your depth.”

He also addressed the meaning behind his “Come and rescue me” post on X gave off the indicator that he was demanding a trade. Diggs clarified he was singing songs from a 2023 Hip-Hop song from Drake called “Rescue Me.”

“I feel like people dive to into things or take it how they want it,” Diggs said. “I’m also not responsible for how people react to things.”

He ended with, “I’m just happy to have my quarterback.”
