Two of the most head-scratching positions to figure out for fantasy football on a weekly basis are quarterback and tight end. Both positions can prove to be extremely matchup and game-plan-dependent, leading to several people considering streaming instead of consistently using the same players. Let’s take a look at the QBs and TEs that fantasy managers should consider starting or sitting in Week 2.

Which QB Should You Start in Fantasy This Week?
Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks completely laid an egg in every facet of the game in an embarrassing 30-13 home loss at the hands of the Cooper Kupp-less Los Angeles Rams.
Geno Smith really struggled against one of the most inexperienced secondary units, with his most notable play from the season opener coming with some audio from a near-death experience involving Aaron Donald.
While his 112 passing yards to go with one score was a very disappointing performance, Smith has another favorable matchup this upcoming week against the Detroit Lions secondary, who gave up 226 passing yards — which could have been much more if not for multiple drops — to the Travis Kelce-less Kansas City Chiefs.
In what could be a high-scoring game, expect a bounce-back outing from Smith and the rest of the Seahawks’ offense.
Which QB Should You Sit in Fantasy This Week?
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
While the Cowboys absolutely dismantled the Giants on prime-time television, Dak Prescott quietly had a very pedestrian day at the office. His 143 yards through the air with no scores generated a disappointing 6.32 fantasy points, which was outside of the top 15 at the QB position.
Now, was the weather and game script a part of this outcome? Yes. Will the matchup get a lot better in Week 2? No.

The Jets’ defense just flummoxed one of the league’s premier quarterbacks in Josh Allen, forcing him to turn the ball over four times in the comeback win against the Bills.
If New York is going to make this one competitive, they will need a similar outing from their defense and running game to make a low-scoring game, field position-type contest.
Dak isn’t the worst option this week, but I just don’t see a high ceiling against this Jets defense.
Which TE Should You Start in Fantasy This Week?
Luke Musgrave, Green Bay Packers
The Packers’ passing offense generating three TDs against the Bears without Christian Watson was one of the bigger surprises of the NFL’s opening week.
And while the rookie tight end didn’t find the end zone in Week 1, Luke Musgrave finished second on the team in receptions and receiving yards.
Quite honestly, it could have been a much bigger debut for Musgrave if a couple of throws were just a little better. Musgrave will face a Falcons secondary in Week 2 that gave up five receptions for 41 yards and a TD against Hayden Hurst and the Carolina Panthers.
Start Musgrave with confidence in Week 2.
Which TE Should You Sit in Fantasy This Week?
Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams
The Rams’ passing offense turned a lot of heads in Week 1 when not one but two pass catchers topped the 100-yard mark against the Seahawks.
Unfortunately, neither of those players was Tyler Higbee. Another unfortunate development is that Higbee’s Week 2 matchup features a Niners defense that held talented Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth to just one catch for three yards.
Yes, that one reception was for a touchdown, but the overall efficiency of work simply wasn’t there against a stingy 49ers defense.
Higbee should still be involved, but I’d rather go in other directions to avoid this talented group of linebackers and safeties altogether.

Should You Start Jared Goff or Daniel Jones?
The Seahawks got absolutely torched by the Rams’ passing game to start the season and will be facing off against the Lions, who are fresh off of an upset win against the defending Super Bowl champs.
Puka Nacua and Tutu Atwell both went for over 100 yards receiving against Seattle’s secondary, but does Detroit have the weapons in the passing game to replicate L.A.’s success? Sure, Amon-Ra St. Brown is a great play, but I’m not sure I see Marvin Jones Jr., Kalif Raymond, or Josh Reynolds excelling in a complementary role.
However, I think Jared Goff is a safer bet to produce numbers against the Seahawks than Daniel Jones facing the Cardinals, who could lean heavily on Saquon Barkley after a humiliating loss on national television to the Cowboys.
I’ll roll with Goff in a game I expect to be a bit higher scoring than the affair between the Cardinals and Giants.
Should You Start Hunter Henry or Dalton Kincaid?
Josh Allen had a rough 2023 debut by his own lofty standards, but Dalton Kincaid’s involvement in his NFL debut certainly is encouraging. Kincaid hauled in all four of his targets for 26 yards but failed to find the end zone against a stingy Jets defense.
While most fantasy managers are a bit skeptical about the Patriots’ passing game, Hunter Henry did finish as the top-scoring fantasy TE in Week 1 with five receptions for 56 yards and a score.
The ceiling always feels a bit higher for a dynamic Bills pass catcher in opposition to a cog in the Pats’ passing attack, but Henry feels like the safer play against a Dolphins defensive unit that gave up 34 points to the Chargers in the season opener.
I’m going with Henry in my lineup for Week 2.
