Fantasy Football WR Week 2 Trade Targets: Buy Low, Sell High Players Include Jahan Dotson, Michael Pittman Jr., and Others

Which WRs could be prime trade targets in Week 2, and who might fantasy football managers be better off cutting bait on now?

The start of the 2023 NFL season has given fantasy football managers a lot to think about. The WR position is particularly intriguing, as we see gameplans and situations play out for the first time. The tough part is knowing which performances are the start of a trend and which are situation-specific.

Unraveling all that we saw in Week 1 and translating into Week 2 WR trade targets is where fantasy managers can differentiate themselves. In order to help you get your head around it all, here are our thoughts on some WRs to buy low or sell high on entering Week 2.

What WRs Should You Trade for in Fantasy Football?

    Jahan Dotson, WR, Washington Commanders

With Terry McLaurin back, Jahan Dotson reverted back to his WR2 role. Still, he ran the most routes on the team, including four more than McLaurin. Dotson also out-targeted him with seven to McLaurin’s five.

It would not surprise me at all if Dotson wound up being the most valuable Washington receiver. If his fantasy manager is frustrated due to a lackluster Week 1, try and buy low.

Davante Adams, WR, Las Vegas Raiders

In Week 1, Davante Adams had the Jakobi Meyers game, and Meyers had the Adams game. Meyers also got hurt in the fourth quarter and looks poised to miss time.

If you have Adams, don’t fret. He still saw nine targets. If you don’t have the former Green Bay pass-catcher, now might be a good time to kick the tires on his manager. Adams is over 30 and playing on arguably the worst offense of his career. I think he will be fine.

What WRs Should You Trade Away in Fantasy Football?

Michael Pittman Jr., WR, Indianapolis Colts

Relative to where he was drafted, Michael Pittman Jr. is not exactly someone you need to be looking to get rid of. In Week 1, he displayed the skills that made him a third-round pick in last year’s fantasy drafts.

With that said, Pittman may very well have just had his best game of the season. He caught eight of 11 targets for 97 yards and a touchdown. Anthony Richardson looked good enough to believe he could sustain Pittman’s fantasy value. Still, it is unlikely he’ll be a viable WR1.

I still think Pittman settles in more as a fantasy WR3. If you can sell him for WR2 value, it’s not the worst idea.

Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers

I was heavily critical of Doubs’ talent in my preseason evaluations. He definitely made me look foolish in Week 1 — at least on the surface.

The thing is, Doubs only saw five targets in a game where Christian Watson didn’t play. He caught four passes for 26 yards, and two of them just so happened to be in the end zone. If anyone out there is excited about Doubs’ long-term outlook, you should look to sell high on him.

Should You Trade Zay Jones for Tee Higgins?

I know, I know. No one is actually trading Jones for Higgins. It was a Week 1 to forget for the entire Bengals’ offense. Playing in horrible weather, Joe Burrow looked like a guy who hadn’t played football in a month.

Make no mistake about it, Cincinnati’s offense is not suddenly bad. Burrow had the worst game of his career and dragged his entire team down with him. He will rebound. If anyone is looking to sell low on Higgins, go get him.

Should You Trade CeeDee Lamb for Brandon Aiyuk?

I am extremely bullish on Aiyuk this season. He looked fantastic in Week 1, out-targeting Deebo Samuel eight to six. This is something I expect to happen more often than not. Aiyuk is shaping up to be one of the best values of the Rounds 4-6 flatness range.

With that said, Lamb is going to be just fine. The Cowboys didn’t really have to do anything on offense Sunday night because the Giants kept giving the ball away. The defense scored twice, and the Giants didn’t score at all.

Lamb is still a WR1, and it would be a major surprise if he didn’t finish with more points per game than Aiyuk this season.
