Jerry Jeudy Injury Update: Will Broncos WR play in Week 1? Fantasy Impact and More

Denver Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy is getting closer to being able to play in Week 1 after a hamstring injury in August.

It has been an up-and-down career for Jerry Jeudy, as the former Alabama star has has shown signs of being a star, but also has had to deal with nagging injuries. However, he showed signs last year of truly reaching his potential after having his best season in Denver in three years.

He played in 15 games, finishing the year with 67 catches, 972 yards, and six touchdowns. All those numbers were career highs for Jeudy, but he has once again this offseason had to deal with injury issues.

    Latest News Surrounding Jerry Jeudy

On August 24, Jeudy suffered a hamstring injury in a joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams. During the scrimmage, he reportedly took an end-around before grabbing his right upper leg in pain.

However, on September 4, he was stretching with his teammates during practice and doing conditioning on the sideline. The fact the Broncos never put him on the injured reserve was big, because if they did, he would have had to miss the first four games.

Another good sign for Jeudy is the fact the Broncos have only four active wide receivers on their 53-man roster. If they didn’t think Jeudy was going to be able to play, they more than likely would have kept another receiver on the active roster.

    Will Jeudy Play This Week?

While he is still currently questionable on the injury report, many positive signs point to Jeudy playing.

When the injury happened, it looked like Jeudy was going to miss an extended period of time. However, by all reports, his recovery has been incredible. It is looking more and more every day that he is going to give it a go.

With Jeudy out there, he has a chance to be a part of a much-improved offense. The Broncos have already had to deal with a lot of wide receiver injuries this offseason, as Tim Patrick is going to miss the year with a torn Achilles. This is the second straight year Patrick has missed the season, as he tore his ACL last year.

If Jeudy didn’t have a good chance to play this weekend, they would have more active receivers and he probably wouldn’t be questionable. While these things can switch at a moment’s notice, it is looking more and more like Jeudy is suiting up Sunday.

What Does This Mean for Jeudy’s Fantasy Ranking?

If Jeudy is healthy and ready to go, he could be in line for a solid opener. The Raiders gave up 4,129 passing yards last year, which ranked 29th in the NFL. They also were tied for the fewest interceptions with six (Giants) and gave up a completion percentage of 67.6% (30th).

Jeudy was playing his best football at the end of last year, as he had 18 catches for 309 yards in his last three games.

This is a good matchup to see how healthy he is, and to see if the Broncos are revamped on the offensive side of the ball.
