‘I Don’t Recall You Missing Any Time For That’ – Travis Kelce’s Brother Jason Provides Injury Update for Chiefs TE

On Tuesday afternoon, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had suffered a hyper-extended knee, and his status for Thursday night’s opener against the Detroit Lions was uncertain.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters Kelce suffered the injury in practice Tuesday. He was officially listed as limited on the Chiefs’ injury report.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Chiefs do not believe the injury will be a long-term one. The plan is to wait for the swelling in his knee to go down before further assessing the extent of the injury. However, the ligaments in Kelce’s knee appear to be fully intact.

Jason Kelce’s Update on His Brother Travis

The brother of Travis Kelce, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, provided a surprising update about his brother’s injury.

Appearing on the WIP Morning Show, a local Philadelphia radio show, Jason spoke about how he had previously suffered the same injury his brother had.

Jason Kelce suffered the injury “kicking firewood” outside of practice during the season. He did confirm the reports that Travis’ ligaments in the knee are intact and backed up the reports of his knee dealing with swelling with his own personal experience.

One of the hosts of the show made an interesting comment to Jason Kelce. After hearing the news of Jason suffering the same injury, the host remarked, “I don’t recall you missing time with that [injury],” despite him suffering that injury in the middle of the season. The segment ended with Kelce remarking, “I think he’s going to be good to go, I really do.”

On Wednesday morning, Rapoport reported that the specific injury was a bone bruise for Travis Kelce and that he would be re-assessed at practice Wednesday. There has been no official injury designation for Kelce from the team, suggesting a slight possibility he may be ready to play against the Lions on Thursday night.
