    Allen was the head coach of the Raiders starting in 2012. His teams went 4-12 in each of his first two seasons, and he was fired after losing the first four games of the 2014 season.

    Allen started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Texas A&M before moving to Tulsa to coach the secondary. His first year as an NFL assistant was 2002, as a Falcons defensive assistant.

    This is Allen’s second season as the Saints head coach. This is his 14th season as a coach with the Saints. He was a defensive assistant in New Orleans from 2006 to 2010. Allen returned to the Saints to be a defensive assistant in 2015. He became the defensive coordinator the next season.

    Who Was the Head Coach Before Allen?

    Before Allen, Sean Payton led New Orleans to the franchise’s first Super Bowl title with nine playoff appearances in 15 seasons. Payton and quarterback Drew Brees arrived in New Orleans together for the 2006 season, one season after Hurricane Katrina forced the team out of the Superdome.

    In their first season, the duo led New Orleans to the NFC Championship after winning the first of seven NFC South titles together.

    The Saints went 7-10 in Allen’s first season. The team won three of the last four games in 2022.

    Allen has struggled as a head coach in September. The Saints went 1-3 last season, and the Raiders only won two of their first 12 games in the opening month under Allen.

    Has Dennis Allen Ever Won the Super Bowl?

    Yes. Allen was a secondary coach for the 2009 Saints. New Orleans defeated Peyton Manning’s Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.
