Is Daniel Jones Playing Today? Giants QB To Play in the Preseason Finale?

Is Daniel Jones playing today? Let's take a look at the New York Giants quarterback and see if he will play in the preseason finale.

With the final week of the NFL preseason upon us, how likely are we to see Daniel Jones play in the New York Giants’ third and final preseason contest? The Giants take on the New York Jets on Saturday; here is all we know about the chances of Jones appearing on Saturday night.

Will Daniel Jones Play in the Preseason Finale?

What we do know is that Aaron Rodgers will make his first preseason appearance since 2018 for the New York Jets. However, what we don’t know at this time is if Jones will be under center for the Giants as well.

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll had given Jones an opportunity in the second preseason game, and while only he knows if that suffices for preseason work, how he chooses to handle the preseason finale is still up in the air right now.

    Who Else Will Play?

Outside of Jones, the Giants currently have two other quarterbacks on their roster — one being a well-traveled NFL veteran and the other an inexperienced rookie.

Their QB2, however, is solidified by the aforementioned long-time NFL veteran Tyrod Taylor. Taylor is heading into his 13th season as a quarterback in the NFL, while his latest stop in New York makes the Giants the fifth different franchise he has played for in his lengthy career.

He started the Giants’ first preseason game and looks to be the first man up regardless of how the team handles Jones tonight.

Behind Taylor in the QB room is rookie Tommy DeVito out of the University of Illinois. DeVito started his college career at Syracuse before joining Illinois for his final season.

DeVito went undrafted in this year’s draft and is looking to use the third and final preseason game as a chance to showcase his talent and build up the body of work he has put together so far in hopes of sticking around on the roster.

When it comes to DeVito and his play so far this training camp, there seems to be real intrigue within the building. While Jones is the starter, and that is unthreatened at this time, Daboll and staff may see an opportunity to build up a young quarterback on a friendly undrafted deal to develop and see if they can eventually have a solid QB2 in the fold going forward.
