As we head into the last week of the preseason, how likely are we to see Bryce Young play in the Carolina Panthers‘ third and final preseason contest? The Panthers take on the Detroit Lions on Friday night; here is all we know about the chances of Young appearing.
Will Bryce Young Play in Third Preseason Game?
Young has taken snaps in each of the Panthers’ first two preseason games, and all indications point toward that once again being the case against the Lions on Friday night.
The Panthers have aimed to give the rookie as many valuable game reps as they can, and with one more preseason game ahead, they look to be doing so again.

Who Will Play After Young?
With Young likely to see action, just how much is the question? Young could come out and have a good couple of opening drives that satisfy the coaching staff as they sit him down and get him ready for Week 1. Or maybe they have a quarter or half goal in mind, and we are about to see a good amount of Young on Friday night.
Either way, when Young’s night comes to an end, the Panthers have three other quarterbacks on the roster who may see some action to round out the preseason slate for the team.
Presumably, the first up of the bunch would be long-time NFL veteran Andy Dalton. However, Dalton did not see action against the New York Giants in last week’s game, and with the NFL regular season right around the corner, there is a good chance that the Panthers may keep the veteran shut down until it gets real in about two weeks.
If all goes according to plan, that would leave Week 3 action to two young signal-callers. Matt Corral was the Panthers’ third-round pick a year ago, and before they drafted Young this cycle, many felt that Carolina’s future may have belonged to Corral.
While that no longer looks to be the case, the Panthers would still like to develop the young QB, and Friday night may help him continue that development and start him on the path to being a quality backup behind Young for the foreseeable future.
The final QB on the roster is fourth-year veteran Jake Luton. Despite having some experience in the NFL, Luton may be on the outside looking in with the Panthers and very well could be auditioning for 31 other teams tonight.
