Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones is getting attention this week, and it’s not for missing training camp this time. A fake fundraiser has been created, and he warned fans so they don’t continue to donate.
An account named “dirt” posted on “X” that Jones has a GoFundMe. It’s unclear who created the original fundraiser.

Fake Fundraiser Created in Chiefs Star Chris Jones’ Name
The fake fundraiser is allegedly raising money for the Chiefs so they can afford to offer the defensive tackle a contract that will have him back on the gridiron after his training camp holdout.
The fraudulent GoFundMe account requested $10,000,000 for the Chiefs, and 1723 people donated, with a total of $43,726 raised, allegedly.
Fans Respond to Fundraiser
Some fans have some other ideas for the money:
Shouldn’t all money go to Chiefaholic Defense Fund

Many people are frustrated that over $43,000 was raised for this particular cause and not all of the other potential causes to donate money to.
I can't believe there's 43k in it 🤣. I couldn't raise 1k to help for a surgery.

Some people seem to think that this is real. Don’t be fooled, folks! Jones is not behind this.
Jones Interacting With Fans
Jones has been interacting with fans quite a bit lately … just not by asking for money. For example, he is shocked that watermelons come in a seedless variety.

It’s the little things for Jones.
Kansas City Chiefs Contract Controversies
Jones might not have said it, but the fake fundraiser does share a popular sentiment. Pay the man!
Jones has been a strong defensive tackle for the Chiefs since 2016. He came off of his strongest season in his career last year, and at a press conference this week, defensive line coach Joe Cullen was quoted as saying:
“I’d say this: Chris (Jones), in my opinion, was as good as, if not the best … defensive player in the league last year. I do stay in touch with Chris. Chris is working hard. We’ll welcome him with open arms when he gets back here.”
And when asked for further elaboration, Coach Cullen said, “I talk to him about him staying in shape. Eventually, this thing will get done, and he’ll be back here at practice and leading us.”
Fans couldn’t agree with you more, Coach Cullen.
Jones earned All-Pro honors last season with 15.5 sacks during the regular season.
This is not the player you want to leave off the roster this year, Kansas City!
The defensive tackle is strong in his convictions. He missed the entire training camp. Jones has kept a positive attitude and a good sense of humor about the entire situation.
