[January 14] The Carolina Panthers announced that they have hired LSU passing game coordinator Joe Brady as their offensive coordinator.
[January 10] New Panthers coach Matt Rhule has yet to make an assistant coach hire official, but my understanding is Phil Snow is expected to follow Rhule to Carolina. Snow served as #Baylor defensive coordinator under Rhule and could continue in that role. He’s worked with Rhule since 2013 (Ian Rapoport).
[January 7] For Matt Rhule’s coordinators in Carolina – Ralph Vacchiano of SNY says that Rhule is expected to hire Lions quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan as his offensive coordinator and it is believed he’ll bring Baylor defensive coordinator Phil Snow along to coach the defense (Ralph Vacchiano)

[January 10] Ben Allbright reports that Wade Phillips is talking to Kevin Stefanski to potentially become the defensive coordinator of the Browns (PFN Insider Ben Allbright).
[January 17] Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy tells reporters that OC Kellen Moore will call plays. This is one of the ways Dallas lured him back from other job offers (Ian Rapoport).
[January 15] Cowboys are interviewing Adam Henry for their WRs coach role today, source says. Henry has been with the #Browns the past two seasons. Sounds like his reunion with Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham will be short-lived (Mike Garofalo).
[January 15] The Cowboys and new coach Mike McCarthy recently interviewed RB coach Skip Peete for their vacant RB coach job. He was then hired soon after. He held that position in Dallas from 2007-12 and they’ve discussed a return. Stan Drayton from #Texas is believed to be returning to UT (Ian Rapoport).

[January 7] Allbright reports that the Rams may not just need a defensive coordinator soon. ST coordinator John “Bones” Fassel might be on the move, too. Watch out for the Cowboys (PFN Insider Ben Allbright).
[January 7] OC Kellen Moore is leaning toward remaining with the team under Mike McCarthy. Dallas is pushing hard to retain him and, while no final decision has been made, the expectation is he’ll stay (Mike Garofolo).
[January 7] Update on Cowboys OC Kellen Moore: New coach Mike McCarthy would like him to stay and remain OC, which may also help Moore learn a new system. But he also has an opportunity to go back home and become the University of Washington OC under Jimmy Lake. He is mulling it all over (Ian Rapoport).
[January 6] The Cowboys new defensive coordinator is going to be Mike Nolan, which also leaves the Saints with a key spot to fill on their D, too. McCarthy likes OC Kellen Moore, I’m told. Nothing more firm than that, but it does seem like McCarthy is more than open to keeping him (Ian Rapoport).
[January 23] Mike Shula is expected to be named QB coach for the Denver Broncos (PFN Insider Ben Allbright).
[January 16] According to Allbright, current Giants OC Mike Shula is likely headed to the #Broncos to be the QB coach under new OC Pat Shurmur (PFN Insider Ben Allbright).
[January 14] The Broncos and Pat Shurmur have finalized their deal for him to be their new offensive coordinator, source said. It’s official. [January 12] Pat Shurmur to the Denver Broncos is happening (PFN Insider Ben Allbright).

According to PFN’s Benjamin Allbright, at this moment, it looks like Pat Shurmur is the leader in the clubhouse for Broncos OC. Other names include LSU’s Joe Brady, Ken Whisenhunt, Mike McDaniel, Jason Garrett, and Jim Caldwell.
However, they will not be the only team interested in Shurmur. They could have competition with the Eagles and the Bears.
[January 13] The Lions are hiring Eagles defensive backs coach Cory Undlin as their new defensive coordinator, per league source. Undlin and Lions head coach Matt Patricia both began their NFL careers together as coaching assistants with the Patriots in 2004 (Field Yates).
[January 11] Lions have hired Brayden Coombs as the team’s special teams coordinator. Coombs comes to Detroit after spending the previous 10 seasons (2010-19) with the Cincinnati Bengals, including the last seven seasons as the team’s assistant special teams coach (Adam Schefter).

[January 20] The Texans are expected to promote Anthony Weaver to their defensive coordinator position (PFN Contributor Patrick Storm).
[January 20] Shakeup in Houston: Longtime respected assistant Romeo Crennel is not expected to return as the Texans’ defensive coordinator, sources tell me and Ian Rapoport. His contract is up soon; he could return as a senior assistant or retire. DL coach Anthony Weaver a top candidate for DC (Tom Pelissero).
[January 22] Jay Gruden has been named the Jaguars’ offensive coordinator. In his last stint as an OC, Gruden improved Cincy’s offense in points-per-game from 18th (2011) to 12th (2012) to sixth (2013). Bengals had 3 consecutive postseason berths during Gruden’s tenure as OC from 2011-13 (Tad Dickman, Jaguars PR)
[January 17] The Jaguars have interviewed Ben McAdoo for their vacant OC job. In his last two years as OC with NYG, he had Top 10 offenses — ranked 6th in scoring in 2015. He also led the Giants to the playoffs in 2016. (Ian Rapoport).
[January 13] A surprise in Jacksonville: The Jaguars are moving on from offensive coordinator John DeFilippo, sources tell me and Tom Pelissero. After a season that saw him help develop rookie Gardner Minshew, DeFilippo is out and Jax will hire a new OC (Ian Rapoport).
[December 31] Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reports that the Lions have fired special teams coordinator John Bonamego and assistants Al Golden, Rodney Hill, Harold Nash, Brian Stewart and Chris White (Tom Pelissero).
[January 6] The Chargers are expected to bring back Shane Steichen as their offensive coordinator, sources tell me and Mike Garafolo. They need to work out his contract, which expires soon, but the plan is for Steichen — who took over after the firing of Ken Whisenhunt — to return (Ian Rapoport).
[January 11] Rams also hiring Broncos’ outside linebackers coach Brandon Staley as their new defensive coordinator to replace Wade Phillips, per source (Adam Schefter).
[January 10] Rams are finalizing a deal to make former Redskins offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell their offensive coordinator, per source. O’Connell succeeded McVay as OC in Washington, now will work with him in LA (Adam Schefter).
[January 6] Wade Phillips: I have been informed by the Rams that my contract will not be renewed. I want to thank them for the opportunity to be a part of their success the last 3years. Most of all I want to thank the players who I loved workings with. I still want to coach and feel I can contribute.

[January 16] Another interesting hire for Brian Flores from the college ranks: The #Dolphins are hiring Michigan LBs coach Anthony Campanile for a position coach job on the defense, source said. He was Boston College’s co-DC in 2018 (Ian Rapoport).
[January 12] The Dolphins are expected to promote Josh Boyer to defensive coordinator, sources say. He replaces Patrick Graham, who’s leaving to become the Giants’ DC (Tom Pelissero).

[December 31] Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reported that Chan Gailey was coming out of retirement to be the next Dolphins offensive coordinator.
In this report, we did not mention that Schuplinski would be promoted to the offensive coordinator post. Instead, the underlying theme was that the move to fire Chad O’Shea was done to help keep Schuplinski on the team. We weren’t told much more than that, but you can read between the lines as to what it means (Tom Pelissero).
Related: Why the Miami Dolphins fired Chad O’Shea and what it means for Jerry Schuplinski
[December 30] The Miami Dolphins announced that they fired offensive coordinator Chad O’Shea after one season on the job. Allbright, along with PFN Co-Owner Matt Infante, were told that part of the reason for this move was to keep QB coach Jerry Schuplinski on the team. Additionally, Pauline reported that some inside the building didn’t see O’Shea as a good offensive coordinator.
[January 23] The Vikings are turning to a familiar face for their new OC: Gary Kubiak, who has been an assistant head coach and offensive advisor, is taking over as the offensive coordinator, sources say. His impact was felt quickly in Minnesota and now he sticks around (Ian Rapoport).
[January 23] One option for their vacant defensive coordinator job: Split duties between impressive assistants DL coach Andre Patterson and LBs coach Adam Zimmer (Ian Rapoport).
[January 12] Vikings’ defensive coordinator George Edwards is not expected to return to Minnesota for next season, per source (Adam Schefter).
[January 22] The Giants are expected to hire former Cowboys O-line coach Marc Colombo for the same role on Joe Judge’s staff, source said. His familiarity with OC Jason Garrett helped, as did his work in Dallas last year (Ian Rapoport).

[January 14] As new coach Joe Judge tries to fill out his staff, he interviewed Mike Shula on Monday for the Giants offensive coordinator job, per sources. Shula was the Giants OC the last two years under Pat Shurmur. Helped in the development of Daniel Jones (Jordan Raanan).
[January 13] More Giants assistants coming together: QB coach is expected to be Jerry Schuplinski, sources said. Was assistant QB coach for the Dolphins, who will let him reunite with Joe Judge. Schuplinski was with the Patriots 2013-18 (Mike Garafolo).
[January 13] The Giants have hired Dolphins defensive coordinator Patrick Graham for the same position.
[January 11] Not a surprise given the development of the #Giants receiving group, but new coach Joe Judge is expected to keep WRs coach Tyke Tolbert, source said. He helped turn late-rounder Darius Slayton is a very productive player, among others (Ian Rapoport).
[January 11] The Giants have requested permission to interview Dolphins defensive coordinator Patrick Graham for their DC role, sources tell me and @RapSheet. Expectation is it’ll be granted. Graham, who was in NE with Joe Judge, was with NYG in 2016-17 (Garofolo).
[January 15] Raiders coach Jon Gruden has fired respected defensive line coach Brenston Buckner and is expected to replace him with Rod Marinelli. Under Buckner, the Raiders improved from 13 sacks in 2018 to 32 this year, and from 30th against the run to 8th (Jim Trotter).

[January 7] The Redskins are zeroing in on Scott Turner as their offensive coordinator, source said. The 37-year-old impressed calling plays as Panthers interim OC last month. Now, a potential reunion with Ron Rivera in the works (Tom Pelissero).
[Jaunary 7] Redskins OC Kevin O’Connell has received permission to speak with other teams about potential offensive coordinator options. A bright, up-and-coming coach, he will have opportunities (Ian Rapoport). Sources tell PFN to keep an eye on the Rams with Sean McVay.

[January 3] Panthers OC Scott Turner is interviewing with new Redskins coach Ron Rivera today for the vacant OC job. Incumbent Kevin O’Connell is considered the favorite, but Turner, whose work impressed this year, could potentially end up as his QB coach if he’s not the OC. (Ian Rapoport)

[January 13] Vikings assistant GM George Paton is, in fact, expected to interview for the vacant Browns GM job, source said. [January 5] With the Seahawks facing the Eagles, keep an ear out for Seattle’s Trent Kirchner and Scott Fitterer in the forthcoming Browns GM search. Sources say Jimmy Haslam admires the Hawks’ sustained success. Depending on who the coach is, those two could emerge as strong candidates (Garafalo).
[January 2] A report from Pauline and Allbright state that the two leading pairs for HC/GM in Cleveland are Kevin Stefanski/Andrew Berry and Josh McDaniels/Dave Ziegler. Click here to read the report in more detail.
[December 31] The mainstream media has caught up to Pro Football Network and is now reporting that John Dorsey has been fired.
[December 28] The Browns are on the verge of major changes within the organization. Here’s everything that Pauline and Allbright know from the last several weeks.
[December 28] In this week’s playoff edition of the College Football Live Blog, Pauline had some news to share in the 5:10 PM update regarding the current situation the team finds themselves in. According to Pauline, rumors have been running rampant all day as to what may happen in Cleveland with the Browns next week. Throughout the day, he learned of several updates from a number of sources including:
Dorsey’s return next year is not a guarantee, and several people feel he could be a casualty of the 2019 season and be fired next week. While this is a possibility, everyone Pauline spoke with feels it would be a mistake to fire Dorsey, something he agrees with.
If Kitchens is retained, he will have to relinquish the play-calling duties. Several scenarios, including bringing in a new offensive coordinator to call plays, were laid out to Pauline.
Another scenario is a compromise between Dorsey and Haslam, where Kitchens is fired, and the team hires a new head coach. Several people threw around the name of Mike McCarthy as a definite possibility.
[December 28] On the eve of the season finale in Cleveland, there is still plenty of questions surrounding the team. According to what sources have told Allbright, the internal dysfunction has not gotten any better since our report several weeks ago.
One person who is looking to have his voice heard more within the organization is Paul DePodesta. DePodesta’s advice has been ignored twice – once when he wanted to hire Sean McDermott and the second when he wanted to hire Kevin Stefanski. Both times, owner Jimmy Haslam chose someone different for the head coach position – Hue Jackson and Freddie Kitchens, respectively.
One of the bigger reasons for promoting Kitchens was the hope that Baker Mayfield would continue to develop with a familiar voice and system. But now, change may be coming a year later.
Allbright is hearing that the disagreement between management and ownership continues when it comes to the status of Kitchens. Rumor has it that Dee Haslam wants Josh McDaniels while GM John Dorsey would like to retain Kitchens.
Throughout this, Haslam has been consulting with Urban Meyer (who has all of the sudden turned into a coaching consultant [Washington, Colorado State]). All that said, Haslam is super sensitive about the Browns reputation as an unstable franchise. All options remain on the table for the organization.
[January 19] The Texans have moved on from Chris Olsen, who had spent time serving as the interim GM. His title was senior VP for football administration and he was employed in Houston for the past 13 seasons (Ian Rapoport).
[January 13] Asked whether the Texans will hire a GM, O’Brien said, “The way I see it right now, it stays the way it is.” He added that he hasn’t met with Cal McNair yet, though (Aaron Reiss).
[January 17] Eagles have hired former OLB Connor Barwin as special assistant to the general manger (Adam Schefter).
[January 9] Eagles expected to part ways today with OC Mike Groh and WR Carson Walch (Adam Schefter).
[January 15] Rooney: All signs point to GM Kevin Colbert returning for at least more season when his deal expires after the draft. “I’m optimistic about Kevin being back next year. We have to get something done. The sooner, the better (Gerry Dulac).
[January 13] The Washington Redskins announced that they have promoted Kyle Smith to the role of Vice President of Player Personnel.
[January 11] The Washington Redskins announced today Doug Williams will be named the Senior Vice President of Player Development. He will report directly to Head Coach Ron Rivera.
[January 9] The Redskins and Senior VP of Football Operations and General Counsel Eric Schaffer have agreed to mutually part ways now instead of May, source said. He’s a respected front office executive who already has interest from several other teams (Ian Rapoport).
[January 7] Sources close to the situation tell Tony Pauline to not be surprised if Ron Rivera tries to steal Marty Hurney away from the Carolina Panthers. Despite reports, Rivera has an affection for the Carolina general manager. Hurney would be returning to his roots in Washington as he served in the public relations department for the Redskins from 1988 to 1989 (PFN Insider Tony Pauline).
[January 5] Redskins now are planning to wait until after the draft to hire a general manager, per league sources. The team’s thinking is that it still has people in place for now, though anyone in the front office is in jeopardy after the draft and there will be more changes (Adam Schefter).

Sources tell PFN that Stefanski will target Mike McDaniel and/or Mike LaFleur to join his offensive staff. Also, expect one or both of the Kubiaks to head to Cleveland with Stefanski.
Additionally, as PFN Insider Tony Pauline was informed by sources yesterday, it has also been reported than the Browns have requested permission to interview Eagles VP Andrew Berry for their vacant GM role.
Here’s a detailed look at what Cleveland is getting in Stefanski.
[January 11] With all of the chatter around the Browns looking into numerous GM candidates, PFN Insider Ben Allbright reports that this is just a simple case of them doing their due diligence on all of the HC candidates’ preferred GM choices.
And while Allbright has heard that the Browns have a clear list of top candidates, PFN Insider Tony Pauline has heard from a source that when it’s all said and done, their ranked list of HC candidates may not matter.
That’s because according to Pauline’s source, no one in the building truly knows how it will shake out. The source pointed towards owner Jimmy Haslam’s erratic behavior, noting that he is “very much a fly by the seat of his pants type of guy.”

[December 30] Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network says to watch the following names for the Browns opening: Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski, Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, Ravens OC Greg Roman, and Saints DC Dennis Allen, among others. Expect it to be a wide-ranging search.
[December 29] Shortly after their 33-23 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, head coach Freddie Kitchens was relieved of his duties. He becomes only the second head coach fired after one season in the Haslam era.

[January 5] The Cowboys officially announced their intention to not renew Jason Garret’s contract when it expires in mid-January.
[January 4] Tom Pelissero reports: “My understanding is the Cowboys’ search process is focused for now on people with previous HC experience. McCarthy the most accomplished available, and now a candidate for four jobs.”
[January 3] Multiple sources have told Pro Football Network Insider Tony Pauline that Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has worn out his welcome in Minnesota. And despite the public statement from Wilf, Pauline reports that there’s a very real possibility he could get fired if the Vikings do not pull off the upset win over the New Orleans Saints in this weekend’s NFC Wild Card game. Sources went on to tell Pauline that if the Vikings do fire Zimmer, expect offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski to be named the team’s new head coach.
But don’t expect Zimmer to be out of a job for long. If this happens, Pauline has heard that Zimmer would become the leading candidate to replace Jason Garrett as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. PFN Insider Ben Allbright also reports that Zimmer would be a serious candidate in Dallas if he were to be fired from the Vikings.

Allbright says one name to watch now in New York, besides Josh McDaniels, is former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett.
[January 6] Patriots’ WR and special teams coach Joe Judge became fifth candidate today to interview for Giants’ HC job. Last week, the Giants interviewed Cowboys D pass-game coordinator and secondary coach Kris Richard, Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy, Ravens DC Don Martindale and Mike McCarthy (Schefter).

[December 30] Allbright is now reporting that if Ron Rivera is to get the head coaching position for Washington, he is considering keeping Kevin O’Connell as offensive coordinator. He would also consider bringing in Steve Wilks as his defensive coordinator. Wilks is currently with the Cleveland Browns in that same role.
[December 30] Owner Dan Snyder released a statement stating that Bruce Allen was no longer with the organization: “As this season concludes, Bruce Allen has been relieved of his duties as president of the Washington Redskins and is no longer with the organization. Like our passionate fan base, I recognize we have not lived up to the high standards set by great Redskins teams, coaches and players who have come before us. As we reevaluate our team leadership, culture and process for winning football games, I am excited for opportunities that lie ahead to renew our singular focus and purpose of bringing championship football back to Washington D.C.”
[December 29] Allbright says to keep an eye on Eric Schaffer (Senior VP of Football Operations) and Kyle Smith (Director of College Scouting. Both may have increased roles within the organization. Allbright states that they are working on a complete power re-structure in Washington.
[December 29] Sources have told Pauline that unless Ron Rivera turns in a poor interview with the Redskins on Monday, expect the team to move quickly to make him head coach. Several people have told Pauline the job could be offered to Rivera some time tomorrow. Allbright can also confirm this through his sources.
According to Pauline, people close to the situation say there are several reasons for this including 1) Rivera is the top choice of Daniel Snyder and 2) If the Redskins let Rivera out of the building tomorrow, they are afraid he could be scooped up by another organization.
Teams mentioned as possible destinations for Rivera include the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants, two teams who could soon have head coaching openings.
[December 28] According to Allbright, another name that has surfaced as a potential head coaching candidate in Washington is former Cincinnati Bengals HC Marvin Lewis. After being dismissed from the Bengals, Lewis became an assistant for Arizona State. He’s spent the past few months coaching alongside Herm Edwards. Lewis is considered a strong contender for the Redskins position.
