Courtland Sutton’s Fantasy Outlook for the 2023 NFL Season
The Broncos entered the offseason with receiver depth and question marks as to the health of their backfield, but as the summer wore on, the script flipped. Tim Patrick tore his Achilles on July 31, the same day KJ Hamler was released. Meanwhile, all signs point to Javonte Williams being well ahead of the ACL recovery process.
Talk out of Denver is that Russell Wilson has plenty of juice left in the tank, fueling speculation that Year 1 under Sean Payton could result in major improvement. Wilson isn’t far removed from providing weekly fantasy value to a pair of talented receivers in Seattle, and that is what he has here in Jerry Jeudy and Sutton.
Tight end Greg Dulcich was a third-round pick in 2022 and started to earn targets toward the end of last season with at least eight looks in three of his final four games.
He should be viewed as a legitimate weapon in this passing game and gives this Broncos offense one more lever to pull as they look to keep up with the rest of the AFC West.

Is Sutton a Good Fantasy Pick?
I’m going to differ from most of the industry here and say, yeah, he is! Am I overly confident in him? No, but he is getting less attention than those decade-old hard candies on Grandma’s living room table.
I just don’t agree with the 100% certainty that Jeudy is the stone-cold lock to be the alpha in this offense, and I do agree that this team should take a step forward, thus making me a buyer in their secondary option.
Over the past two seasons, Sutton has one fewer drop on 51 more targets than Jeudy. Again, I’m not saying he tops Jeudy; I’m just not in the business of writing him off. And then you have the “rebirth of Russ” narrative to track.
For his career, 82.8% of Sutton’s fantasy points have come when lined up out wide. If we are truly buying into Wilson trending toward his Seattle days, that’s a worthwhile note. From 2020-21, Wilson was the top-rated perimeter passer in the game courtesy of the highest TD rate on those passes.
Count Sutton out if you want. Be my guest. I’m not making that mistake and will be happy to scoop him up at his current cost.
