Professional athletes and the music industry cross over more frequently now than ever before. Minnesota Vikings RB Alexander Mattison is the latest to show off his versatility as a performer on and off the field, trying his hand in a new music video starring Treyson Green.
Vikings’ Alexander Mattison Collabs and Appears in New Music Video
Green is a young musical artist who once had his passion for playing football cut short at a young age, which allowed him to focus his talent on his musical craft. Green came from a football family and played for Eastview High School until his lack of focus in the classroom took his playing career off the table.
“Just not really focusing on what mattered in school, from grades to not showing up, not being able to play football…and doing everything that I was supposed to, made me who I am now with music,” Green would say.
Green has been signed to Water Wave TV while producing two albums featuring Pardyalone and Bobby Raps. Green’s latest song, “Gone,” is drawing the most attention since he is collaborating with Vikings starter Mattison.
Mattison has family ties to the music industry and has performed on several tracks. Mattison would mention how, during the pandemic, his interest in music soared to greater heights.
“I was like, this is kind of fun, and it’s not something I’m terrible at. I kind of find it as a way of therapy too.”
Mattison would describe how he connected with Green and how their conversation through social media allowed for the collaboration.
“He saw that I make music too, and he asked me to hop on a song, and it was like, ‘Oh man.’ That was when the pressure was on when it’s like an artist that you have some respect for and know that they do a great job. You know, he has a good following in the city, in the Twin Cities. His name it has some weight in music. So when he asked me for a feature, I was like, ‘Oh, I can’t blow this.'”
Not only did Mattison collaborate on the track, but he also appeared in the music video they took at Eastview High School. For now, Mattison views the music industry as a fun enterprise, but don’t worry Vikings’ fans, he’s not losing focus on his day job.
“I don’t even know what day it is, that’s the camp grind.”
Mattison’s collaboration with Green drops on Aug. 20 on all major streaming platforms.
