Dalvin Cook on Tuesday will mark the two-month anniversary of his release. But the Miami Dolphins‘ interest in the four-time Pro Bowler — who turns 28 Friday — far predates that. Cook has interest in the Dolphins. The Dolphins have interest in Cook. So why hasn’t a deal happened?
PFN Miami Dolphins Podcast: Dalvin Cook Update
We discussed all things Cook in the world premiere of the PFN Miami Dolphins podcast (listen below), a new weekly program hosted by yours truly and chief operating officer Matt Infante.
Among the topics discussed in Ep. 1 include the expectations, internally and externally, for the Miami Dolphins in 2023 — and if they are realistic. Plus, we talk about the outlook for Tua Tagovailoa this season based on what we’ve seen in training camp thus far.
We also get into the latest on the Christian Wilkins contract extension saga and the intriguing, four-way battle for WR3. We end with a look-ahead at Dolphins-Falcons joint practices (and the far-less important preseason game).
But who are we kidding? You all want to know more about Dalvin Cook.
When will the former Minnesota Vikings back finally sign with a team? Was his visit to the New York Jets a thinly veiled message to Miami? What contract parameters would be palatable to both sides? And is Cook the missing piece to Miami’s Super Bowl puzzle?
Cook’s list of potential destinations is relatively short, assuming he wants to play for a contending team. But Cook’s hometown Dolphins have always been his preference.
As we explain in the podcast below, there’s a number that makes sense for the Dolphins. The problem is, it’s far less than what Cook was set to make this fall.
