NFL Fans Are Roasting Chicago Bears After Family Night Photo Goes Viral — ‘Down Bad Bears’

A viral video surrounding one of the Chicago Bears' annual summer events sparked criticism for the attendance numbers.

The Chicago Bears are attempting to re-establish momentum following a disastrous 3-14 campaign last season. Anyone who has followed their aggressive offseason plan would believe that there’s renewed energy and enthusiasm for the 2023 Bears.

Unfortunately, it looks like the enthusiasm part is still a work in progress following “Family Fest.”

Picture of Near Empty Chicago Bears Family Fest Goes Viral

The Bears held their annual “Family Fest” on Sunday at Soldier Field with the intent to lure the fans to witness this year’s Bears team.

With the addition of 1,000-yard wide receiver DJ Moore and the signings of former Green Bay Packers tight end Robert Tonyan and two-time Pro Bowl linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, Chicago should’ve had at least a decent-sized crowd … right?

Bears beat reporter Herb Howard took video from the press box of what was more than a half-empty venue.

To make matters worse for the Bears, one fan did a comparison with the Bears’ Family Fest next to the crowd the Packers received in their Family Night held at Lambeau Field.

Reactions Rip the Bears’ Attendance for Family Fest

Sure enough, the reactions were strong and critical for fans of the Bears and the lack of interest in their 2023 fan event.

One fan reacted to Dov Kleiman of Bro Bible’s post, saying “down bad bears.”

Another fan reacted by comparing the Bears’ family event to one of the quietest places on the planet.

“Bears facility looks like a library,” one fan said.

Another fan called the Bears a “poverty franchise” while lauding the Packers.

Another fan posted, “Best fans in the business not even close. Come to a Packers game and take in the tailgating before hand and the atmosphere in and around the stadium and tell me otherwise.”

The Bears Did Receive Defenders for Family Fest

Not every post ripped the Bears’ family event.

Turns out, the weather likely played a role in the low attendance and the fact it wasn’t a real regular-season game.

But, there were fans who reminded the Packers that one of the biggest musical festivals was happening that same weekend.

And the 2023 Lollapalooza lineup featured Grammy winners Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey, as well as legendary rock group The Red Hot Chili Peppers and many other musical acts for the three-day event that held its final showing on the same night as the Bears’ Family Fest.

One Bears fan ripped the Packers, saying their family event attendance was their version of celebrating the Super Bowl for the 2023 season.

“Packers celebrating training camp like it’s their super bowl cause they know they won’t have anything to celebrate during the season. Respect for the self awareness,” the fan said.

Other Bears fans said that outside of the massive music festival, the surging Chicago Cubs were playing the Atlanta Braves that same afternoon, which was a 6-4 Cubs win that continues to move them toward first place in the NL Central. There were other Bears fans who ripped Green Bay for having less to do in their city compared to Chicago.
