Miami Dolphins News: The Latest on the Tyreek Hill Marina Incident

What the Tyreek Hill settlement means for the Miami Dolphins wide receiver ahead of the 2023 season.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has reportedly reached a settlement in his alleged Miami marina neck-slapping incident on Father’s Day.

“The parties to the incident which occurred on June 18th, 2023 at the Haulover Marina involving Tyreek Hill have resolved their differences,” said Evan Feldman, the attorney for the employee of the Kelly Fleet, Inc., and Julius Collins, the attorney for Hill, said in a joint statement obtained by ESPN.

Assuming that agreement holds, Hill seems unlikely to face either criminal prosecution or NFL punishment.

The Latest on Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill

Last month, Hill was accused of striking a charter boat employee in the back of the neck during a disagreement following a day of deep sea fishing in South Florida.

A police report, which the South Florida Sun-Sentinel obtained via a public records request, says that Hill then charged at the alleged victim and needed to be held back.

Miami-Dade cops looked into the incident, but five weeks in, Hill has not been charged.

That seems unlikely to change now, assuming the settlement included some sort of non-prosecution agreement.

What’s more, settlements often include non-disclosure clauses that would make cooperation with NFL investigators a non-starter.

While the league could presumably punish Hill based on other evidence — like surveillance video — doing so without the cooperation of the alleged victim seems unlikely.

The NFL has declined comment on the matter.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel will speak to reporters Wednesday for the first time since the allegations emerged.

As of now, the only statement the team has offered on the incident came back in June:

“We are aware of the situation and have been in contact with Tyreek, his representatives and the NFL. We will reserve further comment at this time.”

Hill is entering his second season with the Dolphins. Any suspension would significantly imperil his goal of setting the NFL’s single-season receiving yards record in 2023.

“I will break 2,000 yards next year, bro,” Hill told Collins earlier this month on his “It Needed To Be Said” podcast. “I’m just checking it off my bucket list. All I’m going to say is 2,000 yards was on my bucket list to get before I leave this league. You all think the Cheetah gonna leave without doing something he promised himself he was going to do as a kid? 2,000 yards and another Super Bowl. We’re getting that. Believe that.”
