With just two professional seasons under his belt, Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields already believes he’s in the NFL history books.
Justin Fields Places Himself Among Top 5 Running QBs
Fields, speaking in a Tuesday video with the “All Things Covered” podcast, was asked who he believes are the five best running quarterbacks in the league, and host Bryant McFadden gave him the opportunity to place himself on the list.
Fields took advantage by saying this to the former NFL cornerback and two-time Super Bowl champion:
“I’m definitely in the top five.”
This comes off the heels of Fields producing 1,143 yards on the ground and scoring eight rushing touchdowns last season. That total moved him to second in the all-time single-season category next to Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens — who currently holds the record with 1,206 yards.
Who Else Did Fields Name Off?
Fields didn’t exactly place himself as No. 1. He also named off the rest of his list — which does include Jackson as well as one NFL Hall of Famer and a current broadcast analyst.
“I’ve got to go with my boy Mike Vick,” Fields said. “I’ve got to go with Cam [Newton], Lamar, of course, me, and then … Steve Young.”
All four names Fields stated set franchise and personal records with their legs. And in the case of Jackson, Newton, and Young, those three emerged as NFL MVPs. Vick went on to play in four Pro Bowls.
Fields, though, needed just two seasons to pass the 1,000-yard mark. The only other QB on that list to hit 1,000 in just his first two seasons was Jackson.
Fields Madden Rating Released
Fields, meanwhile, was among many NFL players who learned what their overall rating is in this year’s edition of the Madden video game.
The Bears quarterback, unfortunately, didn’t reach the 90s range or even the 80s. He instead was given a 76 rating for Madden 24.
That score, however, is a slight improvement from the 74 rating he was given last year. And, it turns out Fields hit the 90s in certain individual attribute categories.
- Speed: 93
- Acceleration: 94
- Agility: 93
- Awareness: 93
- Injury: 91
- Toughness: 94
- Throw Power: 91
- Ball Carrying (BC) Vision: 96
- Change of Direction: 92
Fields, as a passer, earned an 85 rating for his accuracy in short passes. He also scored an 81 in the “throwing on the run” category and 82 in play-action throws. He reached an 80 for throws under pressure.
Fields is now entering a critical third season that has new skyrocketing expectations involving the Bears, as they aggressively made pivotal offseason moves, including giving Fields a new 1,000-yard wide receiver in D.J. Moore via trade.
