Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has completely revamped the franchise’s wide receiver situation in recent years. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are one of, if not, the best wide receiver duos in the NFL.
Yet, there are still questions behind them in Philadelphia. Despite the elite talent of both Brown and Smith, there are legitimate concerns about the WR3 spot for the Eagles. Here’s a look at the WR depth chart in Philadelphia.

After Brown and Smith, there’s a significant drop-off in talent on Philadelphia’s WR depth chart. Many looked to Quez Watkins to take a step forward in recent years, but he’s failed to do so. Watkins is regarded as a field-stretching deep threat, but he rarely made big plays and failed a few times in important moments.

Olamide Zaccheaus, meanwhile, is an intriguing player to watch as a legitimate threat at WR3. After Watkins failed to do much over the last two seasons, “OZ” appears to be Roseman’s lone veteran addition at wide receiver. Zaccheaus was a reliable option for the Atlanta Falcons last season and could thrive as a slot target for Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia.
Following those first four receivers on Philadelphia’s depth chart, there are even more questions. Britain Covey showed promise as a return specialist last year, but he’ll have to earn a roster spot once again. Greg Ward is also back in Philadelphia yet again but likely won’t make the final roster. With that said, there are some intriguing young wide receivers to watch in training camp and preseason.
Who Will Make the Eagles’ Final Roster?
As of right now, it seems like Brown, Smith, Watkins, and Zaccheaus are the only locks to make Philadelphia’s final roster. Following final cuts last season, the Eagles only kept five wide receivers on their initial 53-man roster. Who will win that final spot this year?
Covey certainly has the upper hand due to his experience and ability on special teams. However, he doesn’t offer the upside that some of these other wide receivers do. Jadon Haselwood and Charleston Rambo are both intriguing due to their experience playing with Hurts during their time at Oklahoma.

Tyrie Cleveland was a late addition to Philadelphia’s roster last season and is well regarded for his ability on special teams as well. Joseph Ngata was Philadelphia’s first reported undrafted free agent signing and received the most money from their UDFA class as well. Which, at the very least, likely means Ngata will be on Philadelphia’s practice squad.
While Devon Allen is an interesting story because of his Olympic background and speed, he likely won’t stick around in Philadelphia. He’s significantly older than several of the players he’ll be battling with for a roster spot. It seems like Covey or one of Philadelphia’s offseason additions will earn that final spot.
