Jordan Addison Dynasty Profile: Fantasy Outlook, Value, Projections, and Rankings

With an excellent landing spot in Minnesota, does Jordan Addison have the talent to become a productive dynasty wide receiver?

As we inch toward the new season, the ever-changing NFL landscape has player fantasy football values constantly on the move. Whether you’re used to the dynasty platform or are still learning the rules, let’s dive into the latest dynasty value of Jordan Addison.

Jordan Addison’s Dynasty Outlook and Value

The 2023 rookie wide receiver class wasn’t viewed as particularly strong. It certainly won’t hold a candle to the incredible 2022 class. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t quality fantasy assets to come from it.

By the time the draft was nearing, Jaxon Smith-Njigba had firmly established himself as the WR1 of this class. After JSN, the next three guys could’ve reasonably gone in any order.

Of the four first-round wide receivers, Addison was drafted last. But I certainly wouldn’t call him “least.”

At 5’11”, 173 pounds, Addison profiles as a slot receiver. As recently as a few years ago, we would scoff at the notion of a receiver this small ever mattering in the NFL. But the winds of change are upon us. The modern NFL receiver looks more like Addison than Quentin Johnston. Guys like DeVonta Smith and Hollywood Brown have proven this archetype can have success. Addison could very well be the next name on the list.

During his Biletnekoff-winning season in 2021, Addison ran 68% of his routes from the slot. That resulted in a season where Addison caught 100 passes for 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Addison’s production dipped after he transferred from Pitt to USC for his junior year. He ran just 23% of his routes from the slot in 2022. Coincidence? I think not.

The Vikings run a pass-first offense with forward-thinking coaches. They surely know Addison’s strengths and weaknesses. It’s a fantastic landing spot, given the condensed nature of the Vikings’ offense and their lack of WR2 following Adam Thielen’s release.

Addison will likely start outside in two-receiver sets and move into the slot in 11 personnel. He projects to be a WR2 at the NFL level, which is exactly what he will be opposite Justin Jefferson, who we can presume will be going absolutely nowhere when his rookie deal is up.

    Jordan Addison’s Fantasy Ranking

The best dynasty rookie receivers are the ones with high upside that we can project to start immediately. Addison has moderate upside but is poised to begin producing immediately.

When comparing the top four rookie receivers, Addison stands out in terms of his role out of the gate. JSN, Johnston, and Zay Flowers all are set to begin their careers as their teams’ WR3s. Addison will be the Vikings’ WR2. This doesn’t necessarily mean Addison will be the best long-term asset, but he is the one I like the most in 2023.

Of course, dynasty managers need to concern themselves with more than just the upcoming season. But it is noteworthy that Addison should be the top-ranked rookie receiver for redraft, as it impacts how win-now teams might approach their rookie drafts.

In terms of long-term value, Addison checks in at 1.08 in our latest dynasty rookie rankings. He’s the rookie WR3 behind JSN and Johnston. I personally prefer Addison to Johnston, as I’m not a fan of the big-bodied TCU product.

Addison landed really well. He’s in a great spot to produce immediately. He lacks a WR1 ceiling but looks like a very safe bet to be no worse than a WR3, with WR2 upside. I would have no issue grabbing him at the right price in dynasty startup drafts.
