As the 2023 NFL Draft rolls on, the Minnesota Vikings still have holes on the roster to fill. Here’s how the Vikings’ draft could play out in their quest to return to the playoffs. The Kirk Cousins window is possibly closing, so will the Vikings draft plan accordingly?
Minnesota Vikings Team Needs Following Round 1
- CB
- LB
- DT
The Vikings are potentially nearing the closing of their window with Cousins at the helm. While they finished with a 13-4 record, it’s fair to say that replicating that record based on how they won games would be very difficult.

Going in, Minnesota needed to sure up their defense and find a No. 2 wide receiver. Aside from Justin Jefferson, the Vikings’ offense is devoid of bonafide playmakers. The addition of T.J. Hockenson at tight end was helpful, but Minnesota still needed more help on the perimeter. So on Night 1, drafting Jordan Addison was exactly what Minnesota needed, making him the third wide receiver drafted in Round 1.
Results for Vikings 2023 Draft Picks
Round 1, Pick 23 | Jordan Addison, WR
This was just what the doctor ordered. As mentioned, Minnesota needed a No. 2 wide receiver who could release some of the pressure off Jefferson. This should aid in opening up the offense a bit.
Predictions for Remaining Vikings 2023 Draft Picks
Round 3, Pick 24 | Kyu Blu Kelly, CB
This should be a solid value pick this deep in the draft. Kyu Blu Kelly brings good size to the position with fluid movements. He has decent technique when matched up in man coverage and doesn’t panic with the ball in the air.
Round 4, Pick 17 | Owen Pappoe, LB
Auburn linebacker Owen Pappoe would give the Vikings an elite athlete at the position who can utilize his blazing speed in pursuit and his lateral quickness to clog up potential running lanes.
Round 5, Pick 23 | Colby Wooden, DT
Colby Wooden provides another elite athlete for the position he plays. Minnesota could take advantage of his lateral quickness and stunting prowess.
Round 6, Pick 33 | Max Duggan, QB
TCU QB Max Duggan was a Heisman finalist and led the Horned Frogs to an improbable national championship run. He’s a consummate leader and teammate, worthy of a late-round stash in the hopes he can be further developed.
