As we inch toward the new season, the ever-changing NFL landscape has player fantasy values constantly on the move. Whether you’re used to the dynasty platform or are still learning the rules, let’s dive into the latest dynasty fantasy football value of Tyler Higbee.
Tyler Higbee’s Dynasty Outlook and Value
It feels like fantasy managers are still holding out hope that the Higbee who finished the 2019 season on an epic tear is capable of returning. 2019 was a long time ago. Since then, Higbee has averaged 8.5, 9.8, and 8.9 ppg per season, respectively.
Last year, Higbee finished as a high-end TE2 for fantasy. The season started really well with Higbee as a consistent floor-based TE1. Then, the wheels fell off.
From Weeks 6-18, he scored 7.3 points or fewer in eight games. The bulk of his scoring came in Week 16, when he produced 30.4 fantasy points. He was consistently good for five weeks and then consistently unstartable for the next eight.

There is reason for optimism, though. Higbee’s role in the Rams’ offense is excellent. He reached top-10 marks in several key indicators: 20.9% target share (fourth in the NFL), 24.9% targets-per-route-run rate (sixth), and 82% routes-run-per-pass-play rate (ninth).
The primary issue is Higbee’s inefficiency. He averaged just 1.43 yards per route run and 5.7 yards per target. Improved QB play in 2023 should help that, but 2019 and 2020 Higbee probably isn’t returning.
Tyler Higbee’s Fantasy Ranking
Higbee is 30 years old and in the final year of his current contract. There’s no guarantee he’ll find himself in a clear TE1 role beyond 2023.
Given the state of the tight end position, Higbee remains fantasy relevant. He should be on fantasy rosters. I just wouldn’t consider him your answer at tight end.
In addition to not moving the needle at all, Higbee’s production has been highly replaceable. That’s not as easy to do in dynasty leagues, but if you really needed an 8-10 ppg TE, you could probably trade for one rather easily.
The NFL has also seen quite the influx of young tight ends. While I say the position is in a bad spot, that could change rather quickly if several of these young TEs pan out. I would much rather take a shot on one of them than roll with Higbee.
We have Higbee at TE26 (No. 187 overall) in our dynasty Superflex rankings. If you desperately need a guy to not get you zero at the position, then you can grab Higbee in dynasty startup drafts. I would shoot for more upside, though.
