The eight XFL teams are split into two divisions, with a geographic North-South divide. This is a shift from the previous iteration, where the divisions were split as East and West. the reason for the change was to push the three Texas teams into one division in an attempt to create six rivalry games a year within the state.

In total, each team will play 10 regular season games in the 2023 XFL schedule. Those games will include six games against their division opponents and four games against the opposing division. At the end of the regular season, two teams from each division will make the XFL playoffs. The North and South title games will be played on April 29 and 30, with the XFL Championship Game on May 13.
