Who Are the Top Defensive Tackles in the 2023 NFL Draft?
It’s unanimous at the very top of the board. Jalen Carter is widely believed to be the best defensive tackle in the 2023 NFL Draft. In fact, he’s one of the few blue-chip players at the top of the pecking order, and he’s a candidate to be the No. 1 overall prospect.
At 6’3″, 305 pounds, Carter is a naturally well-leveraged lineman. And while he doesn’t “wow” onlookers with his measurements, he can obliterate interior blockers with his explosiveness, power generation, violent hands, and relentless motor.
Carter leads the way in the 2023 NFL Draft at DT, but he won’t be the only DT to go in Round 1. Bryan Bresee is a likely first-round selection with his own high-end athleticism. Meanwhile, players like Calijah Kancey, Gervon Dexter, Siaki Ika, Mazi Smith, Adetomiwa Adebawore, and Keeanu Benton all hold early-round value as well.
Behind the top group, there are still plenty of prospects to note. Alabama’s Byron Young is another early-round sleeper, while all-star standouts like Karl Brooks, Moro Ojomo, Dante Stills, Kobie Turner, Nesta Jade Silvera, and Taron Vincent add vital depth to the class.
