Jimmy Neutron is known for brain blasts. Jammie, meanwhile, brings the body blasts. Robinson has been one of the most physical defenders in college football for four years. And for two of those years, he’s arguably been one of the best players on Florida State’s talent-laden roster.
Originally a four-star recruit from Leesburg, Georgia, Robinson signed with the South Carolina Gamecocks out of high school. Immediately as a true freshman, he took on an increased role on the defensive side.
By the time his two-year stint at South Carolina was up, Robinson had played in 22 games and started 13, amassing 135 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, eight pass deflections, and a forced fumble.
Robinson’s star was trending up at South Carolina. But after the departure of Will Muschamp and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson (no relation), Jammie chose to enter the transfer portal. Pursuant to the rule changes in 2021, he’d be eligible to play right away — and he chose Florida State as his destination.
The rest of the story is hardly surprising. Robinson picked up right where he left off in Tallahassee. In 2021, he put up 84 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four interceptions, three deflections, and two forced fumbles, earning first-team All-ACC honors. And in 2022, he added 99 tackles, five TFLs, a sack, a pick, and five more pass breakups to his career total.
Unsurprisingly, Robinson earned a Senior Bowl invite with his collegiate performance. And in Mobile, he stood out as one of the most physical and versatile defensive backs at the showcase. We know he’ll be in the NFL. But how does he project at the professional level?

Current Draft Projection for Florida State S Jammie Robinson
Robinson grades out as a potential top-100 prospect and a late Day 2 or priority Day 3 selection if he falls that far. He’s one of the more well-rounded safety prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft, bringing a tenacious physical edge that resonates on the field.
At around 5’11”, 194 pounds, with arms under 30″ long, size won’t be a calling card for Robinson. But at that size, Robinson is an incredibly explosive and twitchy athlete with tremendous foot speed, lateral burst, and matching ability. He also has enough fluidity to transition in space and carry his stride while matching receivers.
Robinson has the athletic makeup to be a versatile defender, and that tracks with his usage as well. He’s shown he can process and manage space in two-high, and he can match receivers in off-man and press-man out of the slot as well.
It’s worth noting that Robinson isn’t perfect in any phase. His man technique can be more controlled and efficient at times. His reaction quickness can be inconsistent in off-man and zone. While he has good fluidity, he’s not always able to sink and snap back toward the ball at a moment’s notice. And he lacks the top-end range to flourish in single-high.
Nevertheless, as a versatile two-high safety with box and slot capabilities, Robinson holds appeal as a potential starting talent at the NFL level. His mix of athleticism and tenacity is conducive to strong coverage ability, and he’s terrific in run support as well. Without overarching elite traits, his ceiling isn’t astronomical. Nonetheless, Robinson can be a solid NFL starter and tone-setter who also provides early special-teams value.
