The fantasy football playoffs are wrapping up in the next two weeks, meaning it’s time to pull out any tricks you have left available to you. One potential contributor is on the waiver wire in most leagues, as Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Mack Hollins is an emerging option. With league championships on the line, you need to consider any potential roster addition who can help you secure the title.
We’ll break down whether Hollins is a quality waiver wire addition for Week 16 as he faces the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Should You Add Mack Hollins From the Waiver Wire?
This is a tough week for rosters needing to turn to the waiver wire for help. Because there were so few injuries in Week 15, the waiver wire is relatively bare. However, if you need a receiver and Zay Jones isn’t readily available, then you have to consider adding Hollins.
The Raiders’ speedster has put together a solid season, producing 51 receptions for 628 yards and four touchdowns. It’s easily his most productive year in receptions and yards after emerging as the No. 2 receiver with Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow banged up throughout the season.
Hollins has only had one stellar fantasy week, which came in Week 3 against the Titans when he logged 158 yards and one touchdown on eight receptions. But you can consider adding Hollins to a weekly Best Ball tournament on Underdog Fantasy, where thousands of dollars are up for grabs in prizes every week.
Now WR37 on the season, Hollins has become a viable fantasy option. His 40 yards and one touchdown in Week 15 was his seventh fantasy-relevant week. You could do worse than to add someone who offers a coinflip chance of helping your roster if you’re in need at WR or in your Flex.
Hollins’ target share varies, but he’s rarely ignored. He’s seen five or more targets in nine games and five of his last six outings. The Raiders have also played him on at least 85% of offensive snaps in every game this season.

There are far less-reliable playmakers you could add. It helps Hollins’ case he’s playing the Steelers’ woeful pass defense. Only four defenses are giving up more fantasy production to receivers this year.
The Steelers allow an average of 12.2 receptions for 177.4 yards and 1.15 touchdowns per game. Those numbers were much worse prior to last month’s worth of games. Pittsburgh’s played an incredibly favorable schedule of inept passing games in the last month, including Indianapolis, Atlanta, Baltimore, and Carolina.
The Raiders, with a top-12 passing attack, will be much more aggressive in exploiting Hollins’ deep speed and large catch radius. It may not pay off with a touchdown, but there’s certainly a higher chance for Hollins to produce as Davante Adams draws Pittsburgh’s attention. Hollins is an unexpected but quality role player.
It’s somewhat hard to imagine you’ve reached this far in your fantasy season with a roster spot that can be filled with Hollins in Week 16. However, he’s not a bad option to gamble on. The matchup couldn’t be better for him to find success, but we also can’t have full confidence he’ll benefit from the circumstances.
It’s as likely Hollins will produce 35 yards as it is he’ll reach 60 or more and a touchdown. That gives us a low floor and relatively low ceiling. Only start Hollins if you’re desperate.
