Now, time for the selection process to unveil the ideal DFS lineup for Tuesday.
Superflex: Kurtis Rourke, Ohio ($10,700)
Mainly because of the unknown status of Kent State’s QB situation, grab Kurtis Rourke for the sure thing in your Superflex, 1.5x points multiplier. Rourke is a threat with his arm as he is with his legs and leads the conference in passing yards per game.
MORE: Buffalo vs. Ohio Odds and Prediction
He’s thrown for 16 touchdowns and rushed for another four on the ground. Rourke’s all-around game makes him the ideal flex spot on Tuesday night.
Quarterback: Cole Snyder, Buffalo ($8,800)
Word on the street is that Collin Schlee will play for Kent State. However, with this state of flux and the current nature of programs keeping quarterbacks on the field during warmups with no intention of them playing, stick with the sure things.
And the sure thing is the fact that Cole Snyder has the most favorable matchup for a quarterback on Tuesday. Ohio’s pass defense is the worst in the country, giving up 335 yards per game, the most in FBS.
Snyder has already thrown for 1,900 yards and 12 touchdowns and could explode against an exploitable Bobcats’ secondary. He also has an advantage with his legs, and he’s rushed for four scores this year. The Bulls are rolling into Peden Stadium on a hot streak and should continue that with plenty of points on the board.
Running Back: Marquez Cooper, Kent State ($9,500)
The bell cow for the Golden Flashes’ offense, Marquez Cooper should be counted on regardless of their situation at quarterback. Cooper should tote the rock plenty if Schlee plays, as he may be limited with his injury. If Devin Kargman plays, the true freshman QB will once again look to have Cooper dictate the pace of the action as he did two weeks ago.
Cooper has eight touchdowns and could topple the 1,000-yard mark with 164 yards in this one.
Running Back: Carson Steele, Ball State ($10,000)
Another running back who could topple 1,000 yards and reach double-digit touchdowns on Tuesday night, Carson Steele has the potential for an elite game just as he has an elite flow of hair. Steele is a bruising back with surprising elusiveness. Don’t let his game fool you, he also has speed to outrun the majority of MAC defenses.
Steele has eight rushing touchdowns this season and ranks sixth on the team with 25 targets out of the backfield. He’s caught 19 passes and has a receiving touchdown as well this year, making his all-around ability a certain play in DFS.
Wide Receiver: Devontez Walker, Kent State ($9,400)
The top target when Kargman was in the lineup was Devontez Walker. He draws the second-highest price tag at wide receiver, but saving on the quarterback allows us to pick him up and guarantee multiple targets in the passing game, regardless of the QB.
MORE: Ball State vs. Kent State Odds and Prediction
Walker is 6’3″ and has speed to burn. He’s been targeted at least three times in every game and has seen at least eight targets over his last five outings, including an 11-catch performance against Miami (OH). Walker is a high-volume player who should eat up yardage against Ball State despite their sound secondary.
Wide Receiver: Justin Marshall, Buffalo ($7,200)
Justin Marshall leads Buffalo in yards per catch this season and touchdowns. He’s a big-play threat as much as he’s a dominant receiver at the catch point. Marshall can take the top off the Ohio defense that is allowing the fifth-highest yards per pass attempt and the most passing yards per game in FBS.
Marshall is the top option for Buffalo, but surely, you could think about stacking a set of Bulls players because of Ohio’s lack of defensive prowess.
Wide Receiver: Quian Williams, Buffalo ($6,900)
Historically, Quian Williams has played against Ohio a handful of times and only caught three passes for 30 yards. That may scare some. But on the night after Halloween, the scariest thing on the field will be the holes Ohio’s secondary leaves wide open for Buffalo to exploit.
Williams and Marshall should be heavy factors in every DFS entry on Tuesday because of the Bobcats’ abhorrent pass defense that currently ranks at or near the bottom in every major category. An offense that runs through their ground game should have no issue taking it to the air on Tuesday.
