Roster management is the single most crucial in-season task for fantasy football players. Just as important as adding the right players is knowing when players need to go. Which players find themselves on our Week 9 fantasy football cut list?
Who Should You Cut in Fantasy Football in Week 9?
The Week 9 fantasy football cut list consists of several veteran running backs and wide receivers.
Note: All roster percentages are from Yahoo.
Darrell Henderson Jr., RB, Los Angeles Rams (86% Rostered)
The latest chapter in the saga of “The Rams hate Darrell Henderson” is the elevation of Ronnie Rivers to the RB1 role ahead of him. Throughout Henderson’s career, the Rams have done everything possible to go out of their way to not feature him.
In Week 8, Rivers started, and although Henderson did end up seeing the field more, he played just 41% of the snaps against the 49ers. Henderson was also out-carried by Malcolm Brown.
The moment Matthew Berry tweeted about his “hunch” that Rivers would start over Henderson, I recommended Henderson’s rushing + receiving yards lower on Underdog Fantasy. He didn’t come close, amassing just 30 total yards.
If not for scoring touchdowns in Weeks 2 and 6, Henderson’s top fantasy output following Week 1 would be just seven points. Kyren Williams is on his way back. Cam Akers is allegedly going to be active if he’s not moved ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline. And the Rams may very well trade for a running back. Regardless of how it plays out, Henderson won’t be startable in fantasy. You can drop him.
AJ Dillon, RB, Green Bay Packers (85% Rostered)
AJ Dillon still possesses every-week starter upside in the event of an Aaron Jones injury. However, he has absolutely no semblance of standalone fantasy value.
Heading into this season, I was super high on Dillon as a standalone RB2 with RB1 upside. As it turns out, the Packers’ offense isn’t good enough to sustain two fantasy-viable running backs. Jones is the only one worth anything while both are healthy.

Dillon hasn’t scored double-digit fantasy points since Week 1. He also looks noticeably slower and less explosive than Jones.
You don’t absolutely have to drop Dillon because he’s still one of the top handcuffs in the league, but consider him more like a poor man’s Alexander Mattison than a guy you can possibly start while the starter is healthy.
Brian Robinson, RB, Washington Commanders (75% Rostered)
The Commanders’ backfield has become impossible to predict. Just two weeks after it looked like Brian Robinson was taking over, Antonio Gibson was back to being the “lead” back.
I put “lead” in quotes because there really wasn’t one. No running back played more than 36% of the snaps. Gibson and J.D. McKissic both shared that honor, with Robinson firmly in third at just 24%.
Robinson did lead the team with eight carries, but he only ran three routes. He has no passing-game upside and is purely touchdown or bust.
Much like Dillon, you don’t have to drop Robinson. Just don’t feel compelled to hang onto him if you need to let someone go.
Chase Edmonds, RB, Miami Dolphins (56% Rostered)
I’m amazed Chase Edmonds remains on more than half of rosters. He’s scored 8.5 PPR fantasy points in his last four games combined.
Against the Lions, Edmonds played just 23% of the snaps. In fact, Alec Ingold was on the field significantly more.
There is no path to Edmonds ever mattering. Even if Raheem Mostert were to get hurt, the Dolphins would push someone else ahead of Edmonds. They have completely abandoned him as someone they’re interested in utilizing. He’s a complete waste of a roster spot. Drop him yesterday.
Marquise Goodwin, WR, Seattle Seahawks (21% Rostered)
Marquise Goodwin was worth a pickup when DK Metcalf was presumed to be out for multiple weeks. With Metcalf returning without missing a game, Goodwin was relegated back to splitting the WR3 role with D’Wayne Eskridge.

Goodwin played just 39% of the snaps and ran a mere 15 routes. You can safely return him to the waiver wire you got him from last week.
Josh Reynolds, WR, Detroit Lions (36% Rostered)
The magical run of Josh Reynolds has ended. Coming out of the bye, the Lions seem to have abandoned throwing to Reynolds. He’s seen eight total targets in his past two games, catching just three of them for 22 yards.
Reynolds appears to have fallen behind Kalif Raymond on the depth chart. Although Reynolds is still running nearly as many routes as Raymond and Amon-Ra St. Brown, he’s no longer the guy Jared Goff looks for after St. Brown. You can safely drop him.
Hunter Renfrow, WR, Las Vegas Raiders (63% Rostered)
I’m late to the game on being out on Hunter Renfrow. In five games played, Renfrow has hit double-digit fantasy points just once and has seen nine targets in his last three games combined.
Renfrow was out there running as many routes as anyone. But he’s just in charge of running wind sprints. Even in a game where Davante Adams was locked down by Marshon Lattimore — catching just one pass — Renfrow couldn’t get going. There’s not going to be a spot. Drop him.
