What Can We Expect To See From the Prime-Time NFL Officiating Crews in Week 6?
The Sunday Night game between the Cowboys and Eagles is intriguing because Hussey’s crew has averaged just 10 accepted penalties per game. That is the second-lowest average in the league this year. However, the crew has thrown 67 flags, with 17 being dismissed due to either offsetting penalties or declined penalties.
They have been a fairly even crew when it comes to officiating games. Hussey’s crew has thrown eight false start flags, with six offensive holding flags. However, they have also thrown six flags for both defensive pass interference and unnecessary roughness. Additionally, they have thrown four flags for illegal contact.
As for Monday Night Football when the Broncos travel to take on the Chargers, Torbert’s crew has averaged a touch under 12 penalties per game. They have only had six penalties declined from their 53 thrown flags in their first four games this year.
More than a quarter of the penalties from Torbert’s crew have been false start penalties, with an additional five offensive holding and three offensive pass interference penalties. In contrast, they have just five defensive pass interference penalties and three defensive holding penalties.
