Las Vegas Raiders (1-3) vs. Kansas City Chiefs (3-1)

    • Channel: ESPN, ESPN2
    • Start time: 8:15 p.m. ET
    • Live stream: ESPN+

As important as this game is, the Raiders vs. Chiefs Monday Night Football matchup already feels like it’s been decided. The Chiefs have dominated this rivalry, winning 12 of 13, and eight of their last nine. Kansas City’s offense is currently firing on all cylinders, and they are coming off of a dismantling of one of the league’s best defenses in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 41-31.

Patrick Mahomes went 23 of 37 for 249 yards with three touchdowns. But what was most impressive was the team’s ability to also run the ball, something they have struggled with in the past. Clyde Edwards-Helaire managed to put up 92 yards on 19 carries with a touchdown. If the Chiefs can continue to mix in a solid run game, their offense will be just that much harder to stop.

Oddsmakers are leaning heavily in the favor of the Chiefs, with the home team currently laying over a touchdown.

Yes, the Raiders are coming into this one after getting their first win of the season against the Denver Broncos. However, after the abysmal performance we just saw the Broncos put up on Thursday Night Football, does that really even count as a win at this point? Honestly, I’m pretty sure that the Washington Sentinels and Shane Falco could defeat this current version of Russell Wilson and the Broncos.

Nonetheless, the Raiders have found some success this season. They currently sport the 13th-best passing offense in the league thanks to the strong connection between QB Derek Carr and the recently-signed Davante Adams. Las Vegas has also managed to put together a top-15 rushing offense in the NFL.

As impressive as those numbers are, it’s their defense where the real issues lie. They simply do not have the playmakers available to slow this Kansas City offense down. Last year, the Chiefs beat the Raiders twice by a combined score of 89-23. If Kansas City and Mahomes continue to play like they did last week, they might put up 89 points in this game alone (kidding, I think).
