    Brian Robinson, Washington Commanders

The entire football world was shocked when the news broke that rookie RB Brian Robinson had been shot during a suspected robbery attempt. Luckily, the injuries were non-life-threatening, and it was reported that Robinson was in good spirits despite the difficult situation.

According to ESPN’s John Keim, head coach Ron Rivera said doctors are optimistic about Robinson’s recovery and his potential return this season. This is good news considering how impressive Robinson looked during his limited preseason action. In fact, Robinson had looked so good that it was believed he had surpassed veteran Antonio Gibson as the team’s RB1.

As the situation continues to unfold, we should get a better picture of when Robinson might make his return and whether or not the team will put him on the NFI (Non-Football Injury) list.

Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson, Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams running back room looks to be getting back into shape as both Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson returned to practice earlier this week. Both running backs had been dealing with soft tissue injuries. Not only did both guys participate in practice, but they were also full participants, including contact.

“They looked good,” head coach Sean McVay said. “They got a few reps and so, it was a good thing. Like I mentioned, Darrell [Henderson] was able to get a bunch of full-speed work the other day. Cam [Akers] looked good today. So I expect all hands on deck.”

Akers missed most of last season after suffering a torn Achilles in July 2021. However, he made an unbelievable comeback and was able to help his team win the Super Bowl only eight months after the injury. Henderson, on the other hand, missed five games last season, including four games for an MCL sprain.

    Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers RB Najee Harris shocked fans when he announced after the team’s final preseason game that he was suffering from a Lisfranc joint injury in his foot. The timeline on that injury is reportedly four to six weeks, and Harris claimed to currently be in his fourth week of the injury.

“It was good to get back out there,” Harris said. “[I was] Kinda rusty a little bit, I’ll say. I been down for about four weeks. … I got my foot stepped on. I had a sprained Linsfranc. So that’s why I was out for the majority of camp. So to get back in the motions of stuff like that, I felt a little rusty. I wasn’t too happy about my performance, bad read on one run, had the false start.”

The fact that Harris played in the preseason even with the injury is a good sign that he will be good to go in Week 1. However, a Lisfranc joint injury is a type of injury to the bones or ligaments, or both, in the middle part of your foot. It can linger and will be something worth monitoring throughout the season.
