Six NFL teams have started their 2022 preseason journey, and it’s time for the other 26 to join them throughout the coming weekend. How can you watch the eight preseason NFL games today? PFN has everything you need to know about Saturday’s Week 1 Preseason NFL game.
NFL games today: Preseason Week 1 Saturday schedule
The first week of preseason games has been split up over four days. With seven games already in the books, here’s when and where you can watch the eight preseason NFL games today.
Kansas City Chiefs at Chicago Bears
Start time: 1 p.m. ET
Channel: NFL Network
Live stream options: Paramount +, Vidgo, fuboTV, NFL+
The first of eight NFL games today sees the Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears go head-to-head at 1 p.m. ET. The Chiefs’ preseason will likely focus on who replaces Tyreek Hill. Offseason signings JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling will make a push along with fourth-year WR Mecole Hardman and rookie Skyy Moore.
While the Chiefs are trying to plug a hole, the Bears are hoping to find some offensive competence under new head coach Matt Eberflus. QB Justin Fields’ rookie season was a disaster, and the WR lineup has not instilled much faith so far. Will Chicago be able to get things ironed out before the season starts?
Carolina Panthers at Washington Commanders
Start time: 1 p.m. ET
Channel: Local
Live stream options: fuboTV, NFL+
This NFL game today sees the Carolina Panthers taking on the Washington Commanders. Washington will play the first game of the Commanders’ Era. They begin this rebrand with Carson Wentz under center, words that have not returned much since 2017. Wentz’s late 2021 choke kept the Colts out of the playoffs. The Commanders have an intriguing roster between its defense and offensive weapons. It is all up to Wentz to bring it all together.
Meanwhile, the Panthers have a competition at QB. Newly acquired QB Baker Mayfield has outperformed Sam Darnold in training camp. Will this trend also continue throughout the preseason schedule? If so, it will likely mean Darnold’s starting career in the NFL is all but over.
Indianapolis Colts at Buffalo Bills
Start time: 4 p.m. ET
Channel: NFL Network
Live stream options: Paramount +, Vidgo, fuboTV, NFL+
The Colts haven’t won a season opener since 2013, and Frank Reich wants to do something about that. While starters may not get a ton of playing time this week, the Colts head coach has echoed that the play time for starters will increase as the preseason progresses. While the offense saw some tinkering this offseason, they get a great first test against the Bills.
Even with some starters sitting out, let’s take a look at Buffalo’s second-string defensive line: Jordan Phillips, Tim Settle, A.J. Epenesa, and Boogie Basham. This season, opposing offenses will have a long year against the Bills’ front seven.
Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers
Start time: 7 p.m. ET
Channel: NFL Network
Live stream options: Paramount +, Vidgo, fuboTV, NFL+
The fourth of eight NFL games today sees the Seattle Seahawks heading to the newly renamed Acrisure Stadium to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both teams saw the departure of their franchise QBs this offseason. Longtime Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger retired after 18 seasons. Pittsburgh is currently embroiled in a QB battle between Mason Rudolph and Mitchell Trubisky as his replacement. While they did select former Pitt QB Kenny Pickett in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, he’s not expected to start the season.
On the other hand, Seattle traded 10-year QB Russell Wilson in a blockbuster deal to the Denver Broncos. A piece of that trade, Drew Lock, is battling Geno Smith as Wilson’s replacement, but the results have been underwhelming so far from both parties. If there’s no headway made soon, it might be another rough season in the Pacific Northwest.
Miami Dolphins at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Start time: 7:30 p.m. ET
Channel: Local
Live stream options: fuboTV, NFL+
These two franchises have held a joint practice this week. The offseason hype surrounding the Dolphins’ moves has steadily grown. Coupled with Tua Tagovailoa’s performance in training camp, fans seem hopeful for a better season. While Buccaneers QB Tom Brady was absent from Thursday’s practice and expected to miss a few days, there doesn’t seem to be much concern from Tampa. Look for Miami to try and iron out a crowded WR room early in the preseason.
New Orleans Saints at Houston Texans
Start time: 8 p.m. ET
Channel: Local
Live stream options: fuboTV, NFL+
Houston continues its rebuild in the post-Deshaun Watson era. The team is ready to go forward with second-year QB Davis Mills while trying to unlock a rushing attack helmed by Marlon Mack and rookie Dameon Pierce. The Saints, on the other hand, look to resurrect a team torn apart last season by injuries.
QB Jameis Winston and WR Michael Thomas return to the team this season with a slew of additions in the offseason. Most notably, New Orleans convinced WR Jarvis Landry and safety Tyrann Mathieu to return home and sign with the Saints. Will this loaded defense continue to bear the load as the offense finds some cohesion?
Dallas Cowboys at Denver Broncos
Start time: 9 p.m. ET
Channel: NFL Network
Live stream options: Paramount +, Vidgo, fuboTV, NFL+
Dallas’ preseason will be spent solving issues as training camp has taken its toll. The Cowboys traded WR Amari Cooper to the Browns this offseason, completely changing the picture of the receiving corps. While WR1, CeeDee Lamb, is good to go, Michael Gallup is still recovering from his ACL tear in January.
To complicate things even further, newly signed WR James Washington fractured his foot and will be out at least six weeks. This leads Dallas to lean on some other new talent this preseason, like rookie WR Jalen Tolbert. Look out for Denver to test KJ Hamler after Tim Patrick went down in training camp with a torn ACL.
Los Angeles Rams at Los Angeles Chargers
Start time: 10 p.m. ET
Channel: Local
Live stream options: fuboTV, NFL+
The final preseason matchup on Saturday’s NFL games schedule sees an LA showdown between the Rams and Chargers. While the Rams continue to ramp up Matthew Stafford’s preseason workload following his elbow soreness, don’t expect him to see much time in this one.
One name to keep an eye out for is rookie RB Kyren Williams. The Rams recently activated the former Notre Dame RB from the PUP list, and he will see some snaps in a thin RB room. He may not project as much of a contributor in the rushing attack but could prove to be a great set of hands for Stafford out of the backfield.
As for LA’s AFC representative, the Chargers made many additions this offseason to build around QB Justin Herbert. Will head coach Brandon Staley and the Bolts finally break the postseason barrier this year?
