Davis stood out in both the CFB National Championship Game and at the NFL Combine. He will now head to Philadelphia to be part of their always strong defensive line.

    Davis’s projected rookie contract

Because Davis was the 13th overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, this is what his projected rookie contract should look like. Contract numbers are from Over the Cap.

    • Total Value: $19.3 million
    • Signing Bonus: $11.2 million
    • 2022 Base Salary: $705,000
    • 2022 Cap Number: $3.5 million

Davis’s strengths and areas to improve

Here is a snapshot of what the Eagles will be getting with the selection of Davis. For further information, check out Davis’ full scouting report.

    Strengths

    • Displays outstanding power and easily bull rushes opponents off the line to collapse the pocket
    • Effective with his hands, knocks blockers back with a violent punch, and keeps his feet moving
    • Plays with proper pad level, easily changes direction, and gets outside the box and to the flanks in pursuit

    Areas for improvement

    • Lacks great first-step quickness
    • Must develop more moves to get off blocks
    • Was rotated in and out of the lineup for Georgia

How does Davis project in the Eagles’ depth chart?

Davis could be the best player in the 2022 NFL Draft class, and he fits right into the middle of the Eagles’ defense with Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave. They also boast Haason Reddick, Derek Barnett, and Josh Sweat.

Once again, the Eagles have one of the best defensive lines in the NFL, at least on paper. Jonathan Gannon has every tool he needs on the front end. Now, they simply need to give Darius Slay a complement on the other side at cornerback.

When do the Eagles pick next in the 2022 NFL Draft?

As of the time they drafted Davis, the Eagles have these remaining picks in the 2022 NFL Draft.

    • Round 1 (Pick 18 from Saints)
    • Round 2 (Pick 51)
    • Round 3 (Pick 83)
